Description

The Sr. Director, Strategic Collaboration – Med Tech is responsible for the oversight of Quality activities at the Strategic Collaborator (Jabil) manufacturing sites in North America, Switzerland and Germany. He/She is responsible to manage the strategic relationship with the Strategic Collaborator including design of overall Quality strategy across the Strategic Collaborator network, to develop and execute Strategic Collaborator capability improvement programs and ensure an overall Quality performance and Quality Systems execution, are in alignment to J&J Standards and external regulatory requirements. He/She serves as the Ethicon Strategic Collaborator Quality representative at Cilag GmbH, based in Zug, Switzerland.

Partner with Franchises to effectively develop and deploy the Jabil Supply Chain & Quality strategic plans and assure the integration/alignment of the quality operations strategy at the business level.

Jabil Collaboration Oversight Execution (45%)

  • Overseeing quality activities at the Strategic Collaborator (SC) manufacturing sites located in North America (Monument, Elmira, Brandywin, Wilson Drive, Baja, Torres, Albuquerque), Switzerland (Bettlach, Grenchen, Balsthal, Hagendorf, Mezzovico, Raron, and Le Locle) and Germany (Umkirch and Tuttlingen).

  • He/she oversees site activities with potential impact to J&J Med Tech product quality and quality management system related to Ethicon and Depuy Synthes products manufactured by Jabil.

  • Accountable for ensuring that the Strategic Collaborator has a clear understanding and ability to execute against the requirements of Ethicon and DPS Quality Systems as applicable, and the Quality Agreement.

  • Partners with the Strategic Collaborator quality counterpart responsible for the in-scope sites to develop and support initiatives and responses to internal quality related matters. He/she also partners with the Strategic Collaborator assessing the Quality System through input into the Management Review and Joint Quality Reviews at the Strategic Collaborator and J&J Med Tech Franchise levels.

  • Responsible for managing oversight activities, including Quality Management and Quality Engineering, at each of the in-scope SC manufacturing locations.

  • Collaborates with Franchise Quality teams and Jabil on escalation decisions as per Quality Agreement and J&J Escalation Standard.

  • Provides External audit support for J&J Med Tech products and/or quality systems and partnerships with Franchise Quality, Jabil SC and Quality teams and J&J Med Tech Regulatory Compliance, in the development of responses to regulatory bodies as it relates J&J Med Tech products and/or QS observations.

  • Review site monthly dashboard and partners with SC establishing improvement plans to address below target metrics and negative trends.

  • Leads Joint Quality Review process for in-scope sites. Ensures effectiveness of the JQR process and identifies improvement opportunities. Identifies Topics or Quality issues that need Elevation and possible Escalation from the JQR to J&J Med Tech Senior Management Reviews.

  • Collaborates with the SC on cost reduction, cycle time reduction, and other improvement programs.

Strategic Collaboration Relationship Management (25%)

  • He/She is responsible the Jabil Strategic Collaboration Model and relationship across all MD Franchises.

  • Engages with Franchise Quality, R&D, Compliance and Business Development to understand key new businesses, product strategies and new technologies.

  • Engages with the Strategic Collaborator to understand new business needs and evolve the oversight model in alignment with new business strategies.

  • Accountable for the Strategic Collaboration maturity strategy, developing a process to engage with the Strategic Collaborator, gather data and insights and collaborate on capability tools/programs to improve and sustain expected maturity levels.

  • Leverage relationship with supplier to influence expediency where necessary. Interface with the most Senior Leaders at the supplier to ensure needs are met as required.

  • Accountable for ensuring that that fit-for-purpose Quality processes are established and maintained to support base business, new product introduction, product transfers/network optimization, and cost improvement programs within the collaboration and the needs of future-state capabilities and business opportunities.

  • Influences both internally across all business levels with J&J Med Tech and enterprise Quality & Supply Chain, as well as influencing external partners and stakeholders.

Strategic Processes and Decision Making (30%)

  • Based in Zug, Switzerland, serves as the Ethicon Strategic Collaborator Quality representative under Cilag GmbH.

  • Establish, approve, and monitor Strategic Collaborator Quality Indicators across the global network.

  • Establish, manage, and monitor execution of long term and short-term Quality strategies to enable the realization of business objectives critical to the global external strategic collaboration relationship.

  • Review and approve changes to the Jabil Quality agreement.

  • Quality representative in the creation of Strategic Collaborator SC strategies and projects needed to drive business growth.

  • Participate in Cilag GmbH applicable Ethicon LT governance forums.

  • Develop talent capabilities in the team in alignment with overall MedTech Q&C Strategy.

  • Develop and execute communication strategy with Ethicon and DPS Supply Chain Quality teams to ensure strategies are aligned to business expectations at the Franchise level.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent .

  • 12-14 years in a regulated environment and at least 5 years in Quality

  • Experience in Quality and Supply Chain.

  • In-depth knowledge of quality and manufacturing systems and processes and applicable regulations, i.e. ISO 13485, FDA’s GMPs for medical devices..

  • Front room leadership and/or complex regulatory compliance experiences.

  • Superior regulatory, technical and business knowledge to develop operational strategies for continued quality assurance.

  • Experience in leading and motivating cross functional-teams, providing clear direction, and fostering a collaborative work environment.

  • Proven ability to think critically and strategically, analyzing problems and developing innovative solutions to drive business objectives.

  • Strong influencing skills with ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing needs of stakeholders

  • Strong understanding of Purchasing Controls and innovative applications for various risk management and risk mitigation tools

  • Proven ability to identify and manage risk, including escalation, prioritization and resolution of Quality issues.

  • Demonstrated strong communication (verbal, written and visual) and networking ability at a global level to execute with cross-functional stakeholders/partners and ability to influence without authority.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead through change and serve as a change agent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Supply Chain, Commercial, and/or R&D.

  • Experience with Six Sigma/Process Excellence tools, training and certification is preferred.

  • Experience with ideation events and/or in innovation methodologies (ex = Design Thinking, Agile, Lean etc.)

Travel Requirements: This position will require up to 35% of travel
