Title: Sr. Pre-Award Sponsored Projects Officer Employee Classification: PT Pay Grade: PT 09 Division: Academic and Student Affairs Subdivision: Research Development Department: Research Admin and Grad School Campus Location: Main Campus General Summary Provide guidance necessary to secure external funding for sponsored activities, including the identification of potential sponsors and funding programs and grants; preparation and submission of funding applications; determination of sub-awardee/contractor status and conducting pre-proposal risk assessment; and negotiation of awards and sub-award agreements on behalf of the University. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Serve as the University's resource and liaison to funding agencies, professional organizations, private businesses, and educational institutions in matters pertaining to proposal submission and grant and contract negotiations and awards. Promote sponsored research, training, and development activities at the University. Maintain cognizance of research interests of assigned faculty, distributing funding opportunities as appropriate. Maintain cognizance of electronic submission systems and requirements, including changes and new requirements. Monitor federal and state legislation and the funding status of granting agencies on a routine basis, maintaining cognizance of funding priorities of sponsoring agencies. Maintain complete and accurate proposal and award files, including the Cayuse electronic jacket. Ensure regulatory compliance and the full and proper review and approval of all submitted proposals. Manage internal review and approval process for proposals and negotiation of research agreements for faculty and assigned units. Gather and prepare information, both internally and externally, for inclusion in ORDA publicity and publications. Conduct grant training workshops for faculty and staff. Assist the office in the distribution of information pertaining to research, funding announcements, changes in regulations, etc. Identify funding sources and disseminate information to faculty and staff. Assist in proposal development and support application submission services. Develop and negotiate project budgets, grants, and contractual agreements with funding agencies. Recommend cost-share packages and matching funds for sponsored project-related activities to meet sponsor guidelines. Submit proposals electronically as required by sponsors and provide technical support to faculty in paperless proposal development and submission. Advise faculty and staff on funding agency and University policies and procedures that pertain to research and sponsored programs. Advise on project implementation and documentation. Process awards and contracts. Advise project directors on regulatory compliance matters, connecting faculty and staff to appropriate University personnel, including the Office of Research Compliance. Provide documentation for auditing agencies as they complete audits of grant activity. Identify projects that raise regulatory issues, advise project directors on compliance, and inform appropriate offices on campus of any potential issues. Advise on project implementation and documentation requirements of an awards terms and conditions. Perform related departmental duties, as required.
