Youngstown State University (OH) Assistant Professor, Organic Chemistry (Tenure-Track) CLASS CODE 999425 SALARY $57,886.00 - $64,173.00 Annually ESTABLISHED DATE January 17, 2025 REVISION DATE January 17, 2025 Summary Of Position The Division of Chemistry in the Department of Chemical and Biological Sciences at Youngstown State University seeks an outstanding organic chemist at the tenure-track assistant professor rank with a research specialization that complements the strengths within the department and the college of STEM. The successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate and undergraduate organic chemistry lecture and laboratory courses and to develop and sustain an externally funded research program involving undergraduate, MS students, and possibly Materials Ph.D. students. The YSU Division of Chemistry in the Department of Chemical and Biological Sciences is comprised of 12 full-time tenure track faculty, 2 lecturers, 4 staff members, over 50 majors in its BS and BA programs and an active MS program with 14 students. The department is exceptionally well-equipped in research instrumentation, and offers a rich, hands-on 'learning through research‚ experience for its students. As part of the College of STEM, the department also participates in the YSU Ph.D. program in Materials Science & Engineering. Position Information Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources. Ability to contribute to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the University community through teaching. Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday, including some evenings, and the possibility of some weekend days. Qualifications and Competencies Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: None Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or close/y related discipline by the time of appointment.
