General Summary
Consults, plans, coordinates, and collaborates in the design and completion of RN-led Evidence Based Practice (EBP) projects and research studies, performing scientific tasks and related activities. Performs a variety of scientific services related to literature review, study design, data collection, summarization and analysis; presentation preparation and delivery; manuscript preparation and submission; and other related activities. Collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams in conducting EBP and research projects. Able to conceptualize and convey the importance/impact of data integrity in terms of patient management, project results, cost efficiency, quality of service and the goals of scientific research. Provides education to RNs regarding evidence-based practice and/or research process. Guides RNs in the use of the Johns Hopkins EBP tools and WellSpan Health IRB process. Collaborates with WellSpan Research staff as appropriate. Is an effective communicator, someone who is resourceful and eager to find solutions to problems, someone who can get along with all kinds of people in all kinds of situations, positively influence professional development in those they are mentoring.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Provides education and consultation in evidence-based practice process and data collection and analysis. Guides development of EBP project and/or research study.
Provides education and consultation in research design and statistical analysis regarding scientific and ethical standards, methods, and specialized techniques to maximize scientific integrity and protection of the safety and welfare of human subjects. Evaluates research plans or data and initiates alternative approaches to improve quality.
Serves as a resource to: * answer questions about research question development * complete a literature review* determine best study design* follow institutional review board policies and procedures, research quality and integrity, and research compliance with policies and procedures. * Implement EBP project or research study* ensure policies and procedures regarding confidentiality of data are maintained* guide data analysis * translate findings* guide accurate, well formatted oral and poster presentations* guide writing, editing, and submission of papers for publication
Common Expectations:
Is knowledgeable of and complies with institutional research policies, procedures, and guidelines. With the oversight of Director of Evidence Based Practice and Nursing Research , has knowledge of and complies with governmental regulations regarding responsible conduct of research, research ethics and integrity and protection of the safety and welfare of human subjects (i.e., DHHS, FDA and IRB research regulations, HIPAA privacy and research regulations and others as applicable, such as those governing specimen banks, genetic research, etc.). Instructs less experienced personnel and advises others to ensure that research is conducted safely and in compliance with the above. Reports apparent or potential problems to Director of Evidence Based Practice and Nursing Research and the appropriate Service Line Leader.
Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) PhD, EdD, DNSc, DNP (EBP only). Required
Work Experience:
2 years Clinical experience. Required and
2 years Experience in doctoral work. Required and
Nursing, lead for EBP projects, and/or PI of nurse-led research beyond initial dissertation/graduation capstone, Required and
Previous research and publication experience beyond dissertation. Required and
Training/experience in the responsible conduct of research, including medical/ research ethics and protection of the safety and welfare of human subjects in research. Required
Licenses:
Licensed Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required or
Registered Nurse Multi State License Upon Hire Required
Courses and Training:
- Appropriate RN specialty certification. Upon Hire Required
