JOB SUMMARY:

The Lab Technician is responsible for testing and inspecting aggregate and asphalt materials to determine if their characteristics, properties, and quality adhere to federal, state, and/or customer specifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Quality control of aggregate and asphalt products.

  • Perform sampling and testing in accordance with Penn DOT, AASHTO, and company methods and procedures.

  • Responsible for communicating with plants to ensure accuracy of materials being produced and shipped.

  • Complete governmental and customer reports on test results.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a lab position.

  • NECEPT Level 1 certification required.

  • Aggregate Technician Certification preferred.

  • Work exceptionally well with employees, customers and business associates at all levels with a professional attitude.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required.

  • Work independently, follow through on assignments with minimal direction, and set priorities, which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities.

  • Must be able to perform under deadlines with frequent interruptions.

  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Software.

  • Must be able to work overtime during peak times.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Perform all work in accordance with YBP Safety policies.

  • The work is performed outdoors and/or indoors, enduring heat, cold, rain, dust, wind, and other elements.

PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:

  • Physical demands include but are not limited to walking, sitting, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
