Description POSITION TITLE: Programs and Volunteer Coordinator STATUS: Non-EXEMPT DIRECTOR SUPERVISOR: Corps Officer MISSION STATEMENT The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. QUALIFICATIONS Possess a positive Christian experience who is willing and able to share it. Must be at least 21yrs of age with the ability to drive a 15 passenger bus, minivan or non CDL truck. Applicants must be in compliance with Child Protection policies of The Salvation Army. Have an understanding and acceptance of The Salvation Army's mission, philosophy, programs, and practices. HS Diploma or GED required. Some college and/or degree preferred. On the job experience may be substituted for educational requirements. Ability to schedule volunteers. Ability to plan, direct, and evaluate the work of subordinates. Ability to work independently, with other volunteers or staff members. Have a basic knowledge of computers; Word & excel programs. Ability to create flyers and invitations. Demonstrate leadership ability. Experience working with volunteers and employees in either a team or supervisory role. SCOPE OF POSITION Responsible for a variety of programs geared towards providing relevant and meaningful programs and activities in the corps/church and community. Recruit & supervise volunteers. Provide direction, coordination, and consultation for all volunteer functions. In coordination with Corps Officer serve as main contact for all public and private programs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinate volunteers for activities. Supervise in-house volunteers. Recruit new volunteers and maintain relationships with current volunteers. Create and implement volunteer programs and training. Ensuring those working with youth are PTM trained. Participate in community events to bring awareness to The Salvation Army; resource fairs and with other non-profits. Weekly programming such as senior activities, adaptive adult programming, Women's Ministries & fellowship groups. Create new adult programming with final approval from Corps Officer. Safety Coordinator; ensure compliance with all safety matters, With support of the Youth Ministry Coordinator, plan activities, curriculum, calendar, and individual learning plans for the After School Program. Assist as needed in providing transportation for Summer Day Camp, ASP, Troops and all other transport needs. Responsible for the meals on wheels programming in TSA building. Assist with Seasonal events and programming. All other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to sit, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers and reach overhead. Ability to use hand to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Ability to operate telephone. Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer Ability to lift 35+ pounds. Ability to access and produce information from a computer. Ability to understand written information. Ability to operate a motor vehicle. Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
