Field Service Technician
Job Description
We are seeking skilled Mechanical Service Technicians to assist with the installation of preassembled machinery into various pack houses throughout Washington and abroad. This role requires extensive travel and the ability to work long hours in a dynamic and team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
Assist with the installation of fruit & vegetable packing house equipment.
Utilize blueprints to layout parts and perform mechanical installations.
Travel extensively to various pack houses, staying in hotels Monday-Friday when on new projects.
Work 60+ hour work weeks for extended periods.
Assemble and troubleshoot machinery on site, including belt conveyors, sorters, bin dumping equipment, and fruit sizers.
Investigate complaints, conduct tests, and resolve problems for existing accounts.
Study system requirements, order and gather components and parts, complete installations, and perform acceptance tests.
Maintain rapport with customers by examining complaints, identifying solutions, suggesting improved methods, and recommending system improvements.
Produce timely and detailed documentation of service reports, detailed status reports to supervisors, installation reports, and test reports.
Maintain customer confidence by keeping service information confidential.
Participate in educational opportunities and departmental cross-training to update job knowledge.
Essential Skills
Proficiency with a tape measure and blueprints.
Willingness to learn and work in a team atmosphere.
Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Basic hand and power tools proficiency to secure nuts and bolts.
Experience with MIG and TIG welding.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Electrical/electronics knowledge is a bonus.
Diagnose and repair equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance on customer equipment.
Mechanical assembly of equipment/products using fasteners, nuts, rivets, hand tools, etc.
Complete mechanical rebuilds and component replacements.
Review equipment prior to shipping to customers, identifying possible issues and ensuring all items are assembled and manufactured accurately.
Work Environment
You will work inside a pack house doing installations, primarily during the day shift. Travel is required, driving to the union gap shop on Monday mornings and carpooling to client sites, staying in hotels Monday through Friday (sometimes Saturday if behind schedule).
