Essential Functions/Responsibilities/Duties

  • Package prescriptions to send to the pharmacies, after verifying that the correct medication, paperwork, and patient counseling instructions are provided.
  • Maintain awareness of stock level and enter orders for restocking based on defined minimum inventory levels. Verify quantity and submit orders to the Wholesaler.
  • Verify product orders received with invoice and purchase order. Place a sticker on each item and place it on the shelf.
  • Monitor and check expiration dates on drugs in stock.
  • Return to stock or discard dispensed prescriptions if a pharmacy returns them.
  • Answer the phone, respond to non-professional level inquiries, and transfer other calls to appropriate staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required Education: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • Professional Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Pharmacy Assistant state registration within 60 days of employment.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
    • Effective verbal and listening communication skills with a customer-oriented approach.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology.
    • Ability to perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, filing, faxing, scanning, and copying.
    • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to organize work while performing multiple tasks requiring attention to detail.
    • Ability to handle sensitive situations and confidential information with discretion.
    • Basic proficiency with various computer systems, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
    • Proficiency in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software, Pharmacy Management software, automated filling software, and Patient Communications Systems.
  • Drug testing: This position requires testing for controlled substances before employment and will be subject to further testing throughout employment.
