This is a high visibility position that positively impacts customers and provides work skills to individuals who may not otherwise be employable due to lack of experience and resources (ex., those who have aged out of the foster care system). This includes at risk-youth and young adult internship opportunities, while fostering a trauma-informed workplace that exercises patience and understanding for interns learning on the job. The Barista Manager will develop, train, and monitor policies and procedures for operations including inventory, supplies, ordering, customer service, adherence to compliance with Washington State Department of Health. Responsibilities: Operations Provide hands on training to youth and young adults ages 15-25 years old and volunteers in any capacity related to supporting the operations of the coffee stand Collaborate with at-risk youth and young adults to develop essential life skills through tailored programs, job readiness, supportive mentoring, and internship opportunities at the coffee stand. Ensure all youth and young adults prepare and serve coffee, tea, and other drinks that meet specified quality standards. Properly handles and maintains all equipment. Responds to orders, questions, concerns, and complaints politely and efficiently. Accurately handles cash and credit card payments, following appropriate cash handling procedures. Keeps coffee appropriately stocked, is able to order back stock and other needed products/supplies to keep coffee stand operational. Serves customers quickly and efficiently. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of menu offerings as well as developing themes, drink specials, and other marketing strategies to support sales. Observes applicable health and safety standards & ensures compliance from volunteers. Schedules staff and volunteer shifts and assures coverage during posted hours of operation. Develop and implement community-focused marketing strategies to increase brand awareness and promote business growth. Champion Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives by fostering an inclusive workplace culture and promoting equitable opportunities for all volunteers and interns. Training Provides training on operational procedures, customer service, and other relevant areas to staff and volunteers. Informally evaluates staff and volunteer performance via verbal feedback and written reports, as requested by supervisor. Makes recommendations for additional training areas that staff and volunteers may benefit from, collectively and individually. Other Duties Recommends new approaches, efficiencies, and continual improvements to supervisor.
