WestRock Company Die Cutter Feeder in Woodridge, Illinois

GENERAL PURPOSE: Facilitate the movement of raw materials around the Die-Cutter, from receiving material from shipping to transferring material to various departments. Also operates the mechanical sheet feeder as well as assists the Die-Cutter Operator with Make-Readies and maintaining a running machine.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Receives sheets/loads of material from the shipping department

  • Preps sheets/loads and stages for the Die-Cutting Process

  • Restacks loads of material for a clean edge as needed to ensure a clean cut

  • Assists the Die-Cutter operator with make readies as needed

  • Reviews job ticket and selects the proper type and quantity of material

  • Feeds material during machine run in a continuous, efficient manner

  • Inspects material for defects or damage

  • Positions image on sheet according to layout provided

  • Sets up and operates the mechanical Die-Cutter feeder

  • Empties all waste receptacles as needed, replaces with empty bins

  • Performs housekeeping duties as directed

  • Creates and affixes pallet tags which identify material, mfr. lot#, and job information

  • Moves cut loads to appropriate department for next step processing

  • Retrieves stock as necessary for jobs.

  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be mechanically inclined

  • Experience in Material handling preferred

  • Experience in Feeding a Die-Cutter a plus

  • Must have the ability to read and write instructions and correspondence.

  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.

  • Must pass basic reading test.

  • Must have basic mathematical skills.

  • Must have the ability to operate heavy material handling machinery (electric pallet jack, fork lift, reach truck).

  • Must have the ability to meet and/or pass the minimum requirement on a mechanical test or have demonstrated mechanical aptitude through prior work experience.

  • Must have experience with or become comfortable with radio frequency scanning device.

  • Must be comfortable with use of computers for finding information, entering information, writing and sending email.

  • Must be able to maintain good attendance.

  • Must be reliable and dependable.

  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods.

  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.
