Aerospace PS2 Polish Operator 2nd Shift - SignOn Bonus Job Overview Job Title: Production Support 2 - Polish Operator 2nd Shift Reports to: Value Stream Manager Location: Kent, WA Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt (hourly) Schedule: 2nd Shift Mon thru Fri 2P to 10:30 PM *Must be able to Train on 1st shift for up to 90 Days until full trained to accommodate 2nd shift independently. Hytek production is open 24 hours per day. All shifts are as follows: 1st shift (Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday - Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.) Job Summary Employees in this role will employ a range of methods to polish parts, utilizing Wheel lathes, Dynafiles, and hand tools to meet customer-driven visual specifications, typically aiming to achieve a grain finish appearance. This involves physically engaging with the equipment and tools to ensure precise and satisfactory outcomes that align with customer expectations. All employees in this position will perform operations in accordance with Military and OEM specifications. Responsibilities Work with Experienced Polish Operator Lead and other Polish Operators to help prepare and process aircraft and/or military aircraft or space parts using a variety of polishing techniques. Use a variety of methods to polish parts including the use of Dynafiles (1A Note), Wheel Lathes (*2A note), and hand tools to achieve customer driven visual requirements, most often to achieve a grain finish appearance. Follow shop traveler, technique card, customer purchase orders, and instructions from experienced Operators and Department Leads. Prepare Aircraft/or Military parts prior to operations including mechanical or chemical cleaning. Prepare Aircraft/or Military parts as called out in purchase orders and tech cards. Perform quality inspection, measuring, and testing part surfaces as required. Perform pre and post cleaning surface finish requirements. Follow Quality Assurance requirements. Follow safety precautions as trained when working with machinery such as a Dynafile and/or Wheel Lathe. Other duties as assigned. 1A Note: A Dynafile is a type of power tool, typically handheld, that features a belt system for sanding, grinding, and polishing surfaces. These tools offer versatility and precision, allowing operators to refine surfaces to meet specific visual requirements, particularly aiming for a grain finish appearance desired by customers. Operating Dynafiles requires physical dexterity and attention to detail to achieve consistent and high-quality results. 2A Note: A Wheel lathe is a specialized machine used for shaping and polishing metal parts. It consists of a rotating wheel with abrasive material that grinds down and smoothens the surface of the part. Wheel lathes are crucial for achieving precise and uniform finishes, particularly for parts with intricate designs or curved surfaces. Operators of wheel lathes need to have a keen understanding of the machine's settings and adjustments to ensure optimal results. This task involves physical engagement with the machinery, as well as attention to detail to meet the specific visual requirements set by customers. Qualifications Must be able to achieve and withstand physical labor working machinery such as a Wheel lathe and/or DynaFile. Ability to lift: (floor to knee) 114 lbs., (waist to waist) 63 lbs., (floor, knee, to waist) 75 lbs., (waist to shoulder) 30 lbs. Ability to carry 63 lbs., occasionally. Have regular and dependable attendance record. Ability to Read/Write Communicate in English with other employees, Customers, and auditors.
