HDR has an exceptional opportunity for a Remediation Sector Lead in our New York/New Jersey Area Resources Business Group. This individual will provide oversight and direction to over 40+ staff in the site investigation and remediation practice. This is primarily an operational position ensuring we are providing timely and quality services on projects to our clients, on schedule and on budget, while meeting HDR internal financial goals. This role will also include setting a vision for the group as a whole and working with local and national leadership and managers/staff in achieving growth objectives and promoting the success of the Remediation Sector. The individual in this position will still function as a Project Principal or Principal Program Manager while also taking on management responsibilities for the NY/NJ Area Waste Sector.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

In the role of NY/NJ Area Remediation Sector Lead, your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor the group's key performance indicators and implement any necessary actions for improvement
  • Oversee Section Leads in evaluating utilization goals against budgeted plans and communicate reasons for deviations along with projected plans for recovery, as needed
  • Provide vision & oversee the growth of the sector
  • Perform project management responsibilities for remediation projects, including preparing and managing scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and issue resolution; manage teams to deliver several projects concurrently
  • Support senior leadership in setting vision for Area Waste Sector and direction for implementation of HDR's goal to expand and provide services associated with site investigation and remediation in the NY/NJ Area
  • Work with and support business/client development leaders and Area Resources Business Group Manager to identify and pursue new opportunities to grow the site investigation and remediation business
  • Support development and implementation of business strategies and plans
  • Support, as needed, area business development activities including strategic planning, annual and long-term goals, client development, community and industry participation, project pursuits, and staffing
  • Assist Area Resources Business Group Manager, as needed, with daily operations such as project oversight, management/salary reviews, quality control, and financial elements for the Area Remediation Sector
  • Routinely convey required information and provide status updates to Area Resources Business Group Manager on activities ongoing within the Area Remediation Sector
  • Act as the liaison for the sections in gaining required approvals (e.g., spot bonuses, promotions, training, salary increases) from the Area Resources Business Group Manager

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer license in New York State
  • Previous experience managing remediation contracts and projects for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC)
  • Existing relationships with NYSDEC Division of Environmental Remediation
  • Demonstrated experience managing large, multi-year, state superfund remediation projects.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, planning or a related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of industry experience
  • If an engineer, maintain engineering registration
  • Experienced in development and management of strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services
  • Experienced in development and management of a wide range of client relationships and specific program and/or project pursuits
  • Experienced in overall staff development to include recruiting, career path and professional growth
  • Experienced with industry associations and maintains a visible profile in the market sector
  • Ability to work cooperatively with Regional Market Sector Directors, Market Sector Directors, Business Class Directors, Regional Business Group Directors, Area Business Group Managers, Area Marketing Managers and Area Managers
  • Demonstrated commitment to HDR values. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) In New York state the Pay Transparency Range would be $140,700-$251,250.
