Our client, an integrator of automated assembly equipment for the automotive industry, is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join their team. As a Mechanical Project Engineer you will be part of the Design Engineering Team supporting the entire integration process from proposal to installation. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in automation equipment, design, customer interaction, and delivering mechanical engineering projects on time and within budgets.

Job Title: Mechanical Project Engineer

Location: Wixom, MI

Pay: $40-45/hr plus OT, benefits

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical efforts on assigned projects including the design phase. This role is also responsible for the design of machines/assemblies.

• Regular reporting of project progress and status to the customer and management.

• Effectively communicate with other engineering teams such as controls, robotics, and vision.

• Finalize and transmit the proposal on schedule.

• Responsible for the entire design process and following the project through to manufacturing and build, debug, try-out, run-off, teardown, shipment, installation, start-up, and buyoff for all assigned projects.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline. Equivalent years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree

• 5+ years of experience designing assembly machines or other related automation equipment used in automotive manufacturing

• Strong detailing/drafting skills and able to put together mechanical prints

• Well-versed in GD&T

• Experienced in designing systems around power and free conveyance, dials, indexing tables, walking beams. and other forms of transport.

• Prior experience leading projects or teams is helpful
