Overview
THE ROLE:
The 2nd shift Warehouse Supervisor will assist the Warehouse Manager by managing and implementing all warehouse activities in support of the overall plant operation. This role will be responsible for the materials management function relating to the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products to ensure materials are provided efficiently in an accurate and timely manner to support manufacturing, packaging, and the distribution operations.
HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:
Manage warehouse to ensure proper receipt, storage, and issuance of materials to the various business centers who utilize them.
Responsible for the efficient flow of products from the point of material receipt from suppliers, material delivery to manufacturing, finished goods receipt from manufacturing, and shipping to domestic and international locations.
Expedite interplant transfers of materials and products between warehouses as the need arises.
Provide planning, direction and coordination for all warehouse related activities while achieving optimum use of workers, equipment (lift trucks, etc.), materials and facilities.
Establish work practices, operating procedures, and work instructions to improve overall performance, ensure inventory accuracy, streamline handling, increase productivity, and promote efficient material flow and space utilization.
Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and material control systems.
Work alongside the inventory control team to ensure any inventory adjustments needed are completed in a timely manner.
Coordinate the proper scrapping/disposals using the scrap log for the warehouse department.
Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure functional objectives are met.
Provide direct reports with leadership, direction, and coaching to achieve work objectives and improve performance and skills.
Ensure proper implementation of systems throughout warehousing operations and trains personnel on proper use.
Additional duties as assigned.
WHAT’S SPECIAL ABOUT THE TEAM:
- The warehouse team is an outstanding team of professionals charged with the handling of all materials received and the finished goods going out and ensuring a high level of quality and attention to detail of the storage and movements of all materials. The department is intertwined with all of the operational departments and supports them in their material needs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises a staff between 15 - 30 Warehouse personnel.
Qualifications
SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
Skills:
Ability to be detailed oriented and build positive relationships with internal and external customers.
Experience with some type of WMS software.
Self-driven, results-oriented, and motivated to work effectively without direct supervision.
Good communication and motivational skills and experience in staffing / training
Leadership and demonstrated organizational skills.
Ability to establish strategic partnerships and relationships cross-functionally and across businesses.
Strong time-management skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and computer-based applications
Ability to interact and communicate with all levels in the organization.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Experience:
2+ years of leadership experience
5+ years of warehouse experience
Proven track record in warehouse of results in setting, implementing, and achieving business strategies within a manufacturing organization.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bilingual in Spanish
• Familiarity working with Oracle OPM and WMS
• Experience in current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) environment highly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree
