Job Overview

As an Intern in the Automotive Business Unit, you will:

• Mechanical Engineering Intern for the Automotive Business Unit will be responsible for supporting sustaining product engineering, design and documentation of existing and newly launching connector product lines along with new product extensions and applications regionally in the Americas.

• This position reports to Stacie Ice, Senior Manager Product Engineering, and will be located at the Winston-Salem, NC campus. Access to the manufacturing plant in Greensboro, NC will also be needed to support projects.

• Expected results are completion of projects as assigned which can include design/product optimization for cost reductions ore customer needs, material savings, or other engineering projects directly contributing to the business needs. Extra focus will be placed on computer proficiency, especially Excel, PowerPoint, data mining skills, and some simple programming.

Responsibilities

• Analyze regulatory requirements.

• Provide additional support at critical times of new production launch, capacity additions, cost-saving initiatives, sustainability projects, streamlining workflows and help to support with customer issues that may occur.

• The position also gives the intern a very broad-based experience across all manufacturing value streams making the products and provides opportunities for direct support of projects that otherwise may not get completed in a similar timeframe otherwise or with the same focus and energy an intern provides TE. This workload provides relief to current PE’s from work overflows and/or vacation coverage in the summer.

You’re the kind of person we are looking for if you:

• Have Received a High School Diploma or GED

• Are currently enrolled in a program or pursuing a BA/BS or MA/MS Degree in Data Science, Manufacturing Engineering or Electrical & Computer Engineering, with perhaps a concentration in Information Systems and/or Sustainability, from an accredited college or university or have equivalent work history. (In certain circumstances, students who are taking a gap year will be considered.)

• Have previous internship or large project experience is preferred

• Are authorized to work in the U.S.

Compensation

• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience:$19.24--$40.84/HOUR(subject to change dependent on physical location)

• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.

To help with their professional growth, we provide access to Mentors via our NAVIGATE platform. Mentors serve as a guide to navigate the organization and provide additional support in their career endeavors at the company. Our program provides a holistic experience for interns that targets professional development and personal growth.

Our internship program typically runs May thru August and gives students the opportunity to work on projects that contribute to the success of their team and build on their classroom experience. Throughout the 10–12-week program, interns will be provided with:

• Executive Exposure

Timeline

TE Connectivity recruits on campus between September and March for New Grad (FT), Rotational, Internship and Co-op positions beginning in May. Once you accept an offer, the onboarding process will begin in January for interns who have committed to offers in the fall semester and upon acceptance for interns who have committed to offers in the spring semester.
