Job Description

  • Teach as necessary introductory, middle-division, and upper-division Biology majors’ courses. The incumbent would be expected to teach courses that could include, but are not limited to: Vertebrate Biology, Ornithology, Animal Behavior, Environmental Biology, Organismal Diversity, General Ecology (plus lab), Comparative Anatomy, Comparative Physiology, Genetics and Evolution

  • Perform research involving undergraduate students

  • Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media commensurate with department and university needs.

  • Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of field.

  • Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities.

  • Contribute to student growth and development including student advising.

  • Provide service to the university and community including the program, the department, the college, the university, and the greater community.

  • Support Winona State University's mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural, and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate or terminal degree in Biology or related field]

  • Experience teaching lectures and laboratories in a higher education setting

Preferred Qualification

  • Skills/ability to integrate technology to enhance learning and teaching.

  • Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching.

  • Post-doctoral experience

  • Established collaborations with local, regional, and national natural resource agencies

  • Maintain an active research program field and laboratory research

  • Experience advising (academic and research) undergraduate students

  • Teaching that integrates working with multiple levels of biological organization

  • Potential to develop research involving undergraduate students

  • Willingness to pursue extramural funding
