Job Summary

The Supervisor, Rail Lubrication is responsible for extending the life of rail by overseeing the rail lubrication program. The position is accountable for maintenance of existing lubricating devices, lubrication strategy, and management of unionized lubricator maintenance staff. The incumbent develops strategy on how to extend the life of the rail and help maintain an efficient operation.

Main Responsibilities

People Management

· Establish employee objectives

· Provide mentorship, guidance, support, coaching, and feedback to direct reports

· Train and mentor new staff

· Communicate company policies, expectations, standards

· Be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on friction management for the Engineering team

Quality Responsibilities

· Ensure all rail lubricators are functioning efficiently

· Develop friction management strategies

· Perform audits on rail lubricators

· Perform track inspections with the local Engineering team to address friction management issues

· Assist and educate the Engineering team on friction management

Safety Responsibilities

· Communicate the Company’s safety policies, expectations, standards

· Perform dynamic audits on unionized employees

· Comply with the company and department safety targets

Working Conditions

The role is primarily performed outdoors in various types of weather and environmental conditions. The role requires being available on-call 24/7 to respond to critical incidents. The role requires frequent travel (80%) to field sites across CN’s network in Canada. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and have good people management skills.

Requirements

Experience

Railway and Management

· Minimum 2 years of railroad experience in Engineering

o Experience in track maintenance, construction, or production

o Experience in Project Management

o Experience leading unionized employees

o Experience in data analytics

o Experience in rail flaw detection, welding, grinding or lubrication*

*Any experience for these above would be considered an asset, those without may apply

Education/Certification/Designation

· High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

· Valid Driver’s Licence

· Track Inspection Guidelines certified

· Canadian Rail Operating Rules certified

· Previous knowledge of rail lubrication*
