Job Description Summary

The Project Manager - Medical Devices is responsible for managing cross functional project teams and providing a high level of technical expertise in sustaining the current range of Infusion products. The role focuses on meeting customer and business expectations for safety, compliance, quality, delivery and cost through the execution of projects and activities covering problem definition, solution and engineering change of product designs or manufacturing processes. They will help to develop and employ best practice in delivering projects from initiation to verification of effectiveness.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Accountable for the execution effectiveness and the results of operations / engineering projects, including implementation of the project deliverables.

  • Support the ongoing manufacture of high-quality products and spares with respect to safety, quality, delivery and cost targets.

  • Develop, modify and implement product design iterations to support strategic improvement targets and in line with customer requests.

  • Implement production process improvement to support continuous improvement targets.

  • Head up the development of the integrated project plan, including budget, resource plans, and risk management plan.

  • Clarify functional priorities and deliverables within the project, including resource needs and documentation requirements.

  • Make critical path activities and actions visible and timely during planning and in execution in order to minimize delays.

  • Guide cross-functional accountability for delivery based on the project charter.

  • Ensure effective project communication and consensus by stakeholders.

  • Communicate project progress, risks and issues in a timely and clear manner.

  • Run the project risk management process.

  • Facilitates project issue resolution, head technical and non-technical problem-solving.

  • Elevate issues to functional management, sustaining governance core team, as necessary.

  • Manage the tactical details necessary to keep the project on track, e.g., action items, issues, decisions.

  • Maintain project documentation in order, run effective meetings with the right people and clearly documents conclusions (meeting minutes).

  • Assist with the coaching and development of other engineers including responsibility for sub-teams of specialists within this field.

About you

  • HND (Higher National Diploma) or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification is an advantage.

  • Experience in a medical device environment (ISO13485, ISO14071 & IEC60601), or other highly regulated industry.

  • 5+ years’ experience in the post release design / engineering support of medium volume, electro-mechanical product.

  • Knowledge of engineering design and manufacturing change, and a good understanding of design control.

  • In-depth experience, knowledge, and skills in own engineering field and ability to apply knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and non-standard situations.

  • Proven track record in planning, coordinating and taking the initiative in multi-functional project teams, with good facilitation skills.

  • Ability to understand and update manufacturing andtest documentation (e.g.: assembly and test procedures, Bills of Material, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, jig and equipment documentation).

  • Skilled in process validation and verification activities for engineering change, including knowledge of IQ.OQ & PQ and Production Part Approval Process. Including statistical tools such as, statistical process control, process capability, gauge repeatability and reproducibility).

  • Knowledge of Lean Techniques and Continuous Improvement philosophies.

  • Prince2 or other established project management methodology.

  • Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving, using structured problem-solving techniques; ability to determine solutions for all stakeholders.

  • High personal accountability and integrity.

  • Proactive and the ability to take initiative with a ‘can do’ attitude.

  • Adept communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.

  • Ability to attract trust and engender strong relationships.

  • Ability to assimilate complexity and to handle multiple-priorities.

  • Embodies' trust, integrity and ethics inside and outside the Company.

  • Ability to train or mentor colleagues.

  • Computer literacy with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office. A Working knowledge of Minitab and MS Project or similar would be advantageous.
