Windham Mountain Resort ASSISTANT KITCHEN MANAGER in Windham, New York

Overview of Position: The Assistant Kitchen Manager supports the Kitchen Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen in a high-volume restaurant outlet. This role ensures that the kitchen runs efficiently while maintaining high standards of food quality and safety, assisting with prep and production as needed.

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years commercial cooking experience, with 2 years in a leadership role.

  • Must have extensive hands-on experience in food and supporting credentials.

  • Must have knowledge of labor management and inventory control.

  • Must be able to independently evaluate situations and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrable ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team.

  • Must have strong knowledge of regulatory requirements for food handling, sanitation, and safety.

  • Must be able to handle a stressful , noisy, and crowded work environment.

  • Must be comfortable interacting with both staff and guests in a friendly and helpful manner.

    Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist the Kitchen Manager in overseeing all back of house operations and staff.

  • Work in cooperation with front of house team to ensure smooth product delivery.

  • Supervise kitchen staff during service, providing guidance and support.

  • Assist in ordering, receiving, and managing food inventory.

  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen.

  • Assist with scheduling staff and organizing kitchen workflows.

  • Assist in training kitchen staff and ensuring they follow established recipes and procedures.

  • Fill in for the Kitchen Manager during their absence.

  • Ensure proper equipment operation and maintenance.

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including food handling and sanitation standards.

    Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 40lbs unassisted

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods up to 12 hours

  • Ability to reach overhead

  • Ability to bend, kneel, and reach under

    Work Schedule and Conditions: We are in the business of providing an Above and Beyond product and guest experience. Traditionally our busy periods are during weekends and holiday periods which you will be expected to work. You can also expect to be asked to work extra hours or days on occasion, especially during the holiday periods.
