The Lead Education Nurse is key to the business's ability to provide a high level of clinical standards. The Lead Education Nurse will ensure that patients are managed as effectively as possible from a nursing perspective. Working with the Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM), the Lead Nurse - Education will identify areas of training and development needs within the team and ensure that education and training for the team is managed as effectively as possible.

We are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse with a minimum of two years post-qualification experience to join our team as a Lead Education Nurse and help our practice grow. As an ideal candidate, you would have previous clinical supervisor or mentor experience, excellent communication skills, be highly organised, and able to work comfortably with autonomy in a growing practice.
The role will primarily focus on clinical duties, allowing protected time for leadership and administrative tasks that form part of the role.
Lead Education Nurse responsibilities will include:
· Work with the Clinical Nursing Manager to help support the identification, prioritisation and implementation of learning, development and CPD for associates in the nursing team to include use of a skills matrix to highlight training gaps.
· Ensure that the nursing team utilises centrally delivered and funded CPD and have oversight of CPD requests for external courses not on offer in Linnaeus.
· Be aware of and utilise the support that the VN Professional Development Team can provide for group wide CPD provision, site level CPD, targeted associate developments and career progression advice.
· Work with the Clinical Nursing Manager to ensure that all new nurses entering the business are supported to complete their induction and necessary training.
· All new SVNs/PCAs entering the business are supported to complete their induction and training agreement forms.
· Manage Training Practice (TP) approval and maintenance of on-going audits from the Primary Centre.
· Maintain and demonstrate knowledge of the RCVS Day One Skills, competencies, and Code of Professional Conduct for Veterinary Nurses.
· Work with the Linnaeus Pre-registration Experience Management Team and Clinical Nursing Managers to ensure utilisation of both college and university placements to suit the business needs.
· Work with the Linnaeus Pre-registration Experience Management Team to ensure that eligible students are able to access the apprenticeship funding available.
· Manage and support the SVNs to ensure they are only permitted to undertake Schedule 3 procedures that are aligned with their stage of education, and that have been approved by their course provider.
· Manage and support Clinical Supervisors and Mentors to ensure they are appropriately trained and supported to carry out their role, receive allocated and protected time to carry out their role, receive allocated practice funding for standardisation and relevant training
· Line management of a number of direct reports, including regular feedback and coaching and development discussions where needed

About Us
Village Vet Winchmore Hill is a well-established small animal hospital, in North London, conveniently located between Winchmore Hill, Palmers Green and Enfield. We see a varied and interesting caseload including; routine surgery, dentistry, emergency surgery, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, exotic medicine and surgery and a variety of medical cases.
