ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.

Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.

Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.

Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly.

Provides directions and assists families. Safely transports inpatients and outpatients for their procedures and discharge from the unit.

Performs clerical duties, organizes charts, obtains patient information as needed such as labs, EKG's, H&P's, assists RN's to meet the needs of the patients.

Greets patients and visitors. Answers, screens, and routes telephone calls. Places orders, coordinates aspects of care with other departments, calls codes, and pages as requested.

Enters nursing requests subject to the approval of a licensed nurse. Asks for clarification when necessary.

Assists to coordinate patient flow within the department. Serves as a resource to other departments to ensure surgical and endoscopy patient flow. Assembles and maintains patient records and charts.

Provides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and high level disinfection of scopes and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, ASGE, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.

Processes and documents all scopes and supplies using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify high level disinfection in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.

Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum EducationState Registered Nursing Assistant Program Preferred

Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire Licenses: Nursing Assistant Certificate Preferred
