Job Summary:

As the Executive Director of the Winchester-Clark County Tourism Commission, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the tourism landscape of our region. You will oversee a wide range of responsibilities aimed at promoting Winchester-Clark County as a top-tier destination for travelers, coordinating with local and state entities, and ensuring the smooth operation of our tourism initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

Job Duties:

  • Developing and supervising plans to promote Winchester-Clark County as a regional visitor's destination.

  • Collaborating with other cities and the Tourism Commission to create new tourist programs and publicize existing attractions.

  • Maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations governing tourism entities in Kentucky.

  • Consulting with state-level tourism officials to elevate awareness of Winchester-Clark County.

  • Representing the Tourism Commission at public meetings, events, and industry trade shows.

  • Overseeing the production and development of print and digital visitor materials.

  • Coordinating Familiarization Tours and generating interest from tour operators and travel writers.

  • Developing marketing strategies and advertising plans in collaboration with state tourism programs.

  • Supervising day-to-day activities in the Visitor Center, including retail operations.

  • Ensuring timely and courteous responses to visitor inquiries via mail, walk-ins, and telephone.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred in business or marketing. Related job experience may be considered.

  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other relevant software.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter) and web analytics.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience in strategic planning, decision-making, and problem-solving.

  • Basic accounting knowledge and ability to interpret financial records.

  • Customer service-oriented with a passion for promoting tourism and community engagement.

Work Environment:

This position operates within a shared office space amongst the Tourism Commission, Chamber of Commerce, and the Industrial Authority in the heart of downtown Winchester. Effective teamwork and communication are essential to success.
