Description

We are seeking a Collections Specialist for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Wilmington, Delaware! This role is within the HVAC industry and will involve working in a dynamic, high-volume call center environment. As a Collections Specialist, you'll be responsible for managing customer credit accounts and taking appropriate steps to collect delinquent payments.

Responsibilities:

Confer with customers by telephone, email and mail to determine reasons for overdue payments and to review the terms of sale, service, or contracts.

Locate and notify customers of delinquent accounts by phone, email and mail to obtain payment.

Research customer account information and explain questions and/or concerns.

Record information about financial status of customers and status of collection efforts.

Notify manager when all collection efforts have been exhausted so account can be placed with an outside collection agency.

Negotiate with customer and discuss payments arrangements/options with Manager when necessary.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a collections specialist role or similar position

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel

• Familiarity with billing functions

• Comprehensive understanding of collection processes

• Experience as a collector is preferred

• Knowledge of credit management principles

• Excellent customer service skills

• Previous experience in a call center customer service role is advantageous

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail

• Problem-solving abilities and negotiation skills

• High school diploma or equivalent; further education in finance, economics, or a related field will be a plus.
