The Technical Leader - Transient Analysis will make immediate contributions working with an energetic, diverse team of engineers performing Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) transient analyses and thermal hydraulic analyses supporting a variety of applications. The position leads projects applying nuclear/thermal hydraulic methods, nuclear power plant operations and safety analyses, to demonstrate compliance with licensing requirements and to resolve emergent BWR plant problems.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership on a production-oriented engineering analysis team for all aspects of the engineering design process; including proposal development, planning, design performance, and release for customer delivery.

• Ensure on-time delivery of thorough and accurate engineering technical reports, correspondence, documentation, and calculations.

• Identify and manage technical risk and assist in developing workable plans for engineering deliverables.

• Resolve challenging emergent BWR operability issues.

• Prepare, communicate, and present solutions to complex technical issues for internal and external customers.

• Implement continual improvement of transient analysis work processes.

• Provide expertise on engineering design reviews.

• Provide technical mentoring to support transient analysis staff development and knowledge management.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering

• 8 years of relevant experience with BWR core simulation or thermal-hydraulic systems analysis (e.g. PANACEA, ODYN, TRACG, RELAP).

Eligibility Requirements:

• This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to U.S. export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of U.S. person status prior to employment.

• Preferred work location is GE Hitachi Nuclear headquarters in Wilmington NC, but highly qualified remote (US Based) candidates will be considered.

Desired Qualifications:

• M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Engineering or Senior Reactor Operator Certification.

• Understanding of standard engineering work planning, scheduling, and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the application of engineering techniques.

• Extensive knowledge of BWR Systems and integrated plant response.

• Extensive knowledge of the fundamental principles of nuclear engineering such as nuclear physics, thermal hydraulics, and mechanical design, as applied to BWR.

• Experience with standard engineering work planning and design process techniques

• Honesty and a high level of personal integrity.

• Demonstrated strong personal commitment, accountability, and determination.

• Ability to communicate with credibility and confidence.

• Strong drive for continuous improvement.

The base pay range for this position is $112-160k. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This position is expected to close on 9/2/2024.

The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
