GE Vernova Sourcing Lean Leader in Wilmington, North Carolina

Job Description Summary

The Sourcing Lean Leader will act as an agent of change for process improvement and Lean implementation and practices for the Global Supply Chain Manufacturing Operations team. They will also support the leadership team in driving the lean transformation, furthering a culture focused on continuous improvement by providing lean education, training, and support to the manufacturing team in their efforts to incorporate the lean philosophy and lean tools within the current processes.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Sourcing Lean Leader responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work with the sourcing organization to develop value stream maps that establish future state targets on elimination of non-value added waste in product, material, and information flow.

  • Facilitate specific building teams, and cross-functional teams, kaizen activities using the GE Kaizen Playbook and the GE Kaizen facilitation process for VSM’s, Flow/Standard Work, 5s, Daily Management, Kanban, 3p, SMED, and all additional Lean processes.

  • Prioritize, coordinate assistance, keep a visual log of projects in process, measure improvements and celebrate implementations.

  • Promote, and facilitate, the use of the Lean Problem-Solving process.

  • Works with the sourcing leadership team to define and educate the workforce on a lean transformation plan.

  • Manage the continuous improvement calendar for assigned shop(s).

  • Collaborate with site Kaizen Promotion Office and Lean Leadership to create, and promote, a Lean culture across the nuclear business.

  • Attend, and facilitate as necessary, Management Operating System morning meetings.

  • Attend, and facilitate as necessary, Staff meetings including deep, lean learning topics for leaders.

  • Work with key suppliers and strategic partners to perform kaizen activities within the supply chain to drive value for our customers.

  • Other relevant duties as assigned

  • Note: Role will be primarily assigned to Sourcing. But will be expected to support the LEAN journey across all of Supply Chain.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 3 years of professional experience in a technical, manufacturing, operations, or military role

OR

  • Associate's Degree with 6 years of professional experience in a technical, manufacturing, operations, or military role

  • Minimum of 2 years of documented lean experience in either a supply chain, sourcing, technical, manufacturing or operations role.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • The required work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC

  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to U.S. export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of U.S. person status prior to employment.

  • Less than 20% travel may be required for role

Desired Qualifications:

  • BS in a technical field

  • proficiency in MRP / ERP / Pull systems: able to translate materials processes into ERP and pull environments

  • High proficiency in Kaizen activity and lean toolset

  • Strong problem solving utilizing the DMAIC process

  • Excellent team facilitation skills

  • Extensive Gemba based continuous improvement tools/techniques

  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills with the ability to speak and communicate effectively with both senior management and production teams

  • Ability to assign priorities in a fast paced and changing environment.

  • Able to mentor and facilitate lean culture change in an environment with varying acceptance

  • Ability to coach complex and diverse groups

  • Strong organizational and project management skills; demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills 

  • Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook)

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
