Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Responsible for the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives. Leads and interacts daily with subordinates and/or functional peer groups, to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies. May interact with other area supervisors, internal customers, and functional peer groups at management levels. Interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules, etc. Encompasses the direction and inspection of the performance of individuals or a team of associates who put together components to make assemblies, subassemblies, or completed units, or make or process raw materials into finished products in an industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervises and leads production operations teams 24/7

  • Serves as a champion for safety culture

  • Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply.

  • Coordinates prioritization of product manufacturing and equipment troubleshooting needs

  • Holds team of operators and shift technicians accountable to established metrics

  • Maintaining equipment schedules, managing timecards, posting and filling overtime slots, addressing personnel concerns, communicating with all employee levels at the plant, and providing solutions to complex and dynamic problems

  • Serves as incident commander for plant spill alarms

Experiences/Education - Required

  • High school education and 5+ years relevant work experience

  • Effective communicator: peers, subordinates, and leadership

  • Capacity to learn complex manufacturing process flow and/or systems

  • Strong data analysis skills

  • Inquisitive problem-solving skills

  • High individual initiative and self-management

Working Hours: 12 hour rotational schedule

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • 4-year degree preferred in engineering preferred with a preference for chemical, materials , or mechanical engineering.

The range for this position is $79,166.00 - $108,854.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
