M&T Bank GCM Middle Office Director in Wilmington, Delaware

Overview:

Manages and applies a significant range of analytical, industry, technical or accounting/financial management concepts and experiential knowledge in support of the Global Capital Markets (GCM) division of Wilmington Trust. GCM provides Trustee and Agency Services to Capital Market bond Issuers, Structured Finance, Public Finance, Project Finance, and Mergers & Acquisition transactions and Loan Agency services for Syndicated Loans. In addition, GCM provides complete suite of services of Entity Management and SPV Services to Issuers.

Establishes strategic and tactical objectives for the department with full responsibility and independent latitude in accordance with Firm's strategic objectives. Sets direction and manages effort level of assigned staff in the completion of transactional processing, risk and control monitoring, reconciliation, problem resolution research, management reporting and analysis for these products. Leads the development or enhancement of new product and service offerings and process changes. Manages activities across disparate functional groups and complex sets of processes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establish tactical direction of assigned team within the GCM Middle Office in alignment with strategic objectives.

  • Ensure work of assigned team is completed in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Monitor processes and procedures specific to assigned team to ensure compliance and effectiveness of controls to mitigate operational risk.

  • Manages work distribution. Ensure staff are properly trained and developed to support responsibility scope.

  • Engage with staff and peers, when necessary, in the resolution of complex problems or development of enhanced services or product solutions through application of industry and experiential knowledge and skills.

  • Lead or participate in cross-functional initiatives related to attainment of business objectives and strategies.

  • Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.

  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain, and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

The position works under minimal supervision and interacts with other internal departments, business leaders, vendors and external parties associated with client relationships. The position may participate in external client discussions or presentations. The position applies critical management behaviors and skills such as facilitating change, coaching and developing, making decisions, communicating, building partnerships and owning results. These responsibilities are applied across disparate functional groups or sets of processes.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 9 years’ relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 13 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 9 years’ relevant work experience

Minimum of 3 years’ managerial experience

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting

  • MBA (Master’s degree in Business Administration)

  • Relevant professional certifications

  • Minimum of 10 years’ financial services investment or trust-related operational experience

  • Minimum of 7 years’ functional management leadership experience

  • Experience working with order management systems or performance measurement systems

  • Experienced participating in cross-functional business initiatives

  • Prior experience with corporate trust industry systems such as ACS Web, SEI/Trust 3000, Transtar, Loan IQ, etc. is preferred

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $150,466.11 - $250,776.86 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
