SUMMARY

The IT Director of Merchandising Systems is a key contributor to the continuous improvement of both internal and client facing processes. This role must be able to balance business needs of senior level leadership and work closely with business unit owners to identify digitization goals and improvement opportunities.

Responsible for leading complicated or large IT projects, directing a mix of onshore, offshore and remote teams, innovating solutions to challenging problems, presenting or translating complex concepts in a simplified manner and completing other related tasks.

  • Engaging with Executives and cross-functional teammates to drive change agendas

  • Develop a multi-year roadmap to ensure the organizations objectives are met

  • Building the transformation and assisting Merchandising area with the organizational change process

  • Understanding of end-to-end Merchandising area processes

  • Work in a cross functional environment, interact with senior management, internal and external stakeholders to make the Merchandising area world- class.

  • Conduct budget analysis/planning/forecasting and contract negotiations while serving as the primary point of contact for Merchandising technology partners/vendors.

Provides the process of re-engineering, being a leader of systems analyst, and is a customer advocate in the area of Merchandising Systems and Processes. Integration with key business stakeholders to understand workflow processes and business goals will be critical.

This position can be located in either Buffalo or Schenectady, NY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops/implements IT applications, systems analysis, and programming activities.

  • Manages IT professionals who design, develop, acquire, or adapt application software.

  • Responsible for developing, supporting, enforcing, and integrating best practices and technology standards across the area of focus.

  • Directs and manages business areas within the IT Department to ensure the development and implementation of cost-effective systems.

  • Advise leadership regarding technology required by the business to support needs

  • Actively support and promote a professionalism that encourages staff participation in the development of standards that is collaborative and utilizes current trends and data

  • Compiles/analyzes data, prepares and presents statistical information on department performance, productivity, activity, and budget for administration.

  • Maintain, audit, monitor, and improve security, and all IT applications.

  • Review proposals for changes to existing systems submitted by users; recommend updates, enhancements, or replacements; assist departments to develop needs, prepare budgets, purchase equipment, and manage installation.

  • Organize work for group ensuring proper distribution, delegation of assignments, and efficient utilization of personnel.

  • Serve as a professional role model by responding positively to change while supporting colleagues through the change process.

  • Provides direction and develops leadership competencies of current staff

  • Conducts special projects and studies as directed by Senior Management.

  • Provides hands-on technical support

  • Responsible for the implementation of IT applications and applications systems analysis for the organization’s business processes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Satisfactory performance reviews.

  • Effective communication skills with cross-functional/matrix teams and executive leadership

  • Self-starter who can manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.

  • Strong project management and general business skills, including ability to identify and plan for cross-functional impact of work.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills and, high standards of accuracy, attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills.

  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

  • Excellent teaming skills and proven ability to work effectively across multiple tams and functional areas.

  • Ability to coordinate work efforts of teammates as needed.

  • Record of planning and implementing large-scale projects involving a variety of technologies.

  • Ability to acutely manage and prioritize multiple project requests and workstreams, while transparently communicating to stakeholders.

  • On-call availability on nights and weekends is required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information technology or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of IT leadership managing merchandising, planning or supply chain related experience.

  • 7+ years, Enterprise IT Work Experience.

  • 5+ years of IT retail experience with a proven track record of increased responsibilities

  • Experience in budget preparation and management of cost controls.

  • Experience in contract negotiations and vendor-relationship management.

  • Experience of collaborative, ethical and effective management skills.

  • Successful experience with process design, development and testing

The disclosed compensation range for this position is applicable within the state the position resides. The actual base pay offered will consider internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. The compensation range is one component of Price Chopper/Market 32 and Northeast Shared Services’ total compensation and benefits package, which includes, 401(k), 401(k) match, paid time off, comprehensive health benefits, and more.
