Friends University is seeking to fill the Director of Security position in Wichita Kansas. The Director of Security implements overall security strategy, policies, and standards to ensure the physical safety of staff, faculty, students and visitors of Friends University as well university property and assets. Conducts regular audits and inspections to assess, identify, and mitigate any security vulnerabilities. Responsible for campus safety training and serve as an essential member of the Crisis Response Team (CRT).

Coordinates with local law enforcement. Keeps administration informed of all security-related information, directives, recommendations, and events. Complies with all city, state, and federal regulations (Clery Act, VAWA, etc.) and provide DOE report on an annual basis. Supervise and schedule security personnel for various shifts and special events. Work hours are normally 40+ hours a week; 24 hours on-call as requested. Some weekends/holidays possible. Working special events (graduation, homecoming, etc.) is required (as is 2nd shift).

Five years of experience in law enforcement or related field is required; as is firearms certification and security officers licensing. Must carry handgun that meets with the Wichita Police Departments requirements. Computer skills are necessary (Microsoft Office product desired).

Associate degree is required. Bachelors degree preferred.

Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills are necessary. Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner is required.
