Acentra seeks a Behavioral Health Clinical Evaluator to join our growing team.

Job Summary

As a Behavioral Health Clinical Evaluator (PASRR) for Preadmission Screening and Resident Review, you will conduct face-to-face assessments to facilitate appropriate placement and care in and around Wichita, Kansas. Your role involves providing essential evaluations to enhance patient well-being and improve their quality of life. These assessments, primarily conducted in nursing homes, hospitals, or community-based settings, play a crucial role in determining the level and scope of care required for each patient.

As a trusted expert, you will evaluate, determine, and recommend the next level of care to improve overall quality of life. This is a (PRN) hybrid role, combining work from your home office with travel to evaluate patients in your local area, including Wichita area. Travel expenses, all mileage and parking will be fully reimbursed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough and accurate clinical assessments of patients, reviewing relevant records and collateral sources to ensure precise screenings, evaluations, and determinations.

  • Make informed decisions regarding the appropriate level of care and service needs based on comprehensive evaluations of patients’ physical, mental, and psychological health.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of psychiatric disorders as outlined by the latest Diagnostic and Statistical Manual utilized in Kansas.

  • Possess an understanding of the standards of practice for mental health, as well as for intellectual and developmental disabilities, geriatric care, and conditions typically necessitating long-term care services and supports.

  • Expertly confirm clinical diagnoses, taking into account psychological and behavioral factors.

  • Engage professionally with healthcare professionals, patients, and their families, and other support.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with individuals and groups, employing spoken, written, and electronic media.

  • Utilize computer equipment and web-based software effectively in the execution of duties.

  • Monitor and manage personal performance metrics to adhere to required turnaround times.

  • Ensure adherence to established workflows and compliance with standards.

  • Participate actively in meetings, and provide valuable input during case consultations and peer reviews as necessary.

  • Stay informed on current literature, regulations, and research pertaining to long-term care, mental illness, medical conditions, and geriatrics.

The list of accountabilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties that management may deem necessary.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Active, unrestricted licensure in Kansas such as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) , Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) or Licensed Nurse Practitioner (LNP).

  • Minimum 2 + years' experience in assessing and diagnosing individuals with mental or psychiatric disorders, including expertise in complex differential diagnoses related to substance use, medical conditions, cognitive issues, and dementia.

  • At least 1 year of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or related conditions.

  • Graduation from an accredited college with a degree relevant to the field.

  • Working knowledge of the Preadmission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) requirements as per Federal Regulation 42 CFR or Chapter 483.

  • Skilled in assessing and analyzing psychological, emotional, behavioral, and physical functioning to develop appropriate level of care recommendations based on clinical evaluations.

  • Knowledge of psychiatric disorders as outlined by the latest Diagnostic and Statistical Manual in use in Kansas.

  • Understanding of standards of practice for determining Level of Care.

  • Strong familiarity with public mental health and medical programs.

  • Demonstrated experience working with the geriatric population.

  • Proven ability to formulate clinical diagnoses, considering psychological and behavioral factors.

  • Strong communication skills, capable of effective interaction with individuals and groups via spoken, written, and electronic media.

  • Skilled in using computer equipment based software for work purposes and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks efficiently within set timelines.

The compensation for this role is $36.00 to $41.00 per hour. Based on our compensation program, an applicant’s position placement in the pay range will depend on various considerations, such as years of applicable experience and skill level.
