2025 Internship - Structural Test
Description
JOB SUMMARY :
Responsible for the design, coordination, and conduct of structural and operational tests on all Textron Aviation models. Will be required to interact and coordinate test activities with other disciplines within engineering. Must be able to design structural steel setups and loading fixtures using CATIA. Other responsibilities include operation and configuration of computer-controlled loading systems. Knowledge of servo-hydraulics and closed loop theory helpful.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
Review Test Plans/Requirements and Coordinate with Stress Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Project design, and Quality to prepare and ensure implementation of requirements for testing activities on various static and fatigue tests
Recommend and select appropriate instrumentation sensors such as, Strain Gages, Load Cells, Pressure Sensors, Thermocouples, Extensometers and Displacement Transducers
Operate, configure, maintain and support use of digital load control and data acquisition systems
Develop detailed test procedures & designs for the implementation of hydraulic control and data acquisition systems needed to perform experimental static and fatigue tests on specimen components for qualification & verification.
Design & develop test hardware and system from source equipment to achieve test requirements.
Inspect 3D models and create documents for test setup
Responsible for conducting development and certification tests
Coordinate conformity effort for tests. This includes creation and implementation of conformity documentation for test setups - work orders, test deviations, and resolution of squawks
Troubleshoot and resolve test setup issues and report out on status for assigned tests
Perform analysis for adequately size test hardware and write test reports
Create and implement solutions for conducting testing including fixture design and fabrication, and lead a group of technicians and peers for accomplishing tasks
Qualifications
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE :
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in:
Aerospace Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Related degree technical fields
QUALIFICATIONS :
Excellent analytical and math skills
Very good communication skills, both written and verbal
Excellent understanding and use of the Microsoft Office suite programs (Word, Excel, Access)
High comfort level with learning and understanding new software programs
Ability to manage time and work output while completing multiple projects/work assignments
Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of making application, and visa sponsorship is not available for this position, including for F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors who will need employment sponsorship.
Summer internships are 40 hours per week typically from late-May to early-August lasting 10 weeks.
Candidates must be able to work onsite for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.
