Indian Health Service Social Worker in Whiteriver, Arizona
Summary This position is in the Social Service Department of the Whiteriver Service Unit within the Phoenix Area Indian Health Service. The incumbent is assigned to provide a broad range of direct social work services to individuals and families. Periodic and scheduled consultation with the supervisor as appropriate for guidance and the evaluation of efficiencies, challenges, and progress in the delivery of care, treatment, and services. The incumbent participates in hospital discharge planning, care coordination, and teaching conferences with health care providers, as appropriate. When involved in patient care, the incumbent will provide social service consultations to various hospitals, clinical staff and have rudimentary knowledge of age specific interventions. Appropriate documentation reflects knowledge of evidence-based practices, including person-centered care, shared decision-making, and recovery model practices. The incumbent shares responsibility with other staff in collecting and evaluating data, planning, and implementing models of care, or other projects for the improvement of outcomes for patients and their families. The incumbent participates in the program planning process, attends appropriate or assigned hospital and community committees and education/training programs when available. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Must have completed a Master's degree, or higher doctoral degree, in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education This position requires a current, unrestricted U.S. State license as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or a Certified Independent Social Worker (CISW). MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, 0185-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-09) in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: performs an intensive and wide range of social work services including moderate technical difficulty including evaluation, consultation, counseling, referral, psychotherapy, crisis intervention and treatment of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders to patients and families. OR; Must have successfully completed three years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree. OR; I have a combination of education and specialized experience as defined in the vacancy announcement that when combined, fully meets the minimum qualifications for this position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, 0185-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: providing a full range of professional clinical mental health services of complex technical difficulty including evaluation, diagnosis, consultation, counseling, referral, psychotherapy, crisis intervention and treatment of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders to patients and families. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Education This position has an education requirement. Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit. Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized.
