At L3Harris Flight Data Services, we provide an outsourced Flight Data Monitoring service to aircraft operators worldwide. It is important to deliver insights to customers in a presentable and timely manner, enabling them to take action to reduce costs and improve safety to save lives.

L3Harris Flight Data Services has the largest flight data monitoring platform in the world; the R&D team supports & develops capabilities and ad-hoc analysis for this platform. Our Flight Data Analysts are the Points of Contact that our customers rely on to provide support and advice to help them improve the flight safety of their operations. An Analyst will apply their knowledge of aircraft systems and flight dynamics to provide objective commentary on customer’s flight data and assist in configuring and maintaining a comprehensive Flight Data Monitoring programme.

    Day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Be the first point of contact for a number of allocated customers

  • Maintain regular communications with your customers and assist with the set-up and ongoing maintenance of their FDM programme

  • Regular analysis of downloaded flight data and daily validation of safety and maintenance events

  • Investigation of abnormal operations and the reporting of findings to customers

  • Provide guidance and support to ensure the most appropriate safety events and thresholds are in place

  • Management of ad hoc requests for data analysis and the compilation of statistical reports

  • Provide ownership of emails, support tickets and ad-hoc requests for analysis

  • Precise time management to deliver to external Service Level Agreements and internal Key Performance Indicators.

  • Support other teams within the business on flight safety matters

  • Identity bugs or inefficiencies in the system and liaise with the Software Development team to find appropriate fixes.

  • Perform acceptance testing for new website features, bug fixes and FDM events

  • Provide occasional out of hours emergency support (AOG -Aircraft on Ground service)

  • Provide support to the Data Specialist team in performing FDR, CVR and DLR readouts using the Express Readout tool

  • Provide website demonstrations and advice to your customers and visitors, in particular those who are new to the service or when new website features and tools are released.

  • Demonstrate and promote industry best practice

  • You will be required for overseas travel for customer visits, attend industry conferences and exhibitions as required.

    Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:

  • Flying experience is desirable

  • Knowledge of aircraft systems and flight operations

  • Experience of data handling, analysis and statistics

  • A passion for safety and a good understanding of safety management principles

  • Understanding and anticipating customer needs

  • Effective communication skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Working at pace
