The School Vehicle Driver is a person of good moral character, honest, with strong work ethic and great with kids. You will be responsible for transporting special needs students to and from school in 7-passenger minivans. You will be required to conduct daily pre and post trip inspections on the vehicle, transport students to and from school, maintain excellent communication with dispatch, parents, school officials, and the School Bus Attendant. You will maintain an orderly environment and keep the students safe during transportation while following all traffic laws and state, local, and federal laws regarding pupil transportation. All candidates will be required to pass a fingerprint background check, urine drug screen, TB testing, and will be required to have or be eligible to obtain a CDL Class C (or higher) driver's license with Passenger (P) and (S) endorsements. Currently, unpaid training is provided to interested candidates at no cost. If driver's commit to employment for two years, the company will absorb costs associated with obtaining licensing, fingerprints, ELDT training, and behind the wheel training. We also have a School Bus Aide to School Bus Driver Bridge Program for candidates who do not possess the required licensure to operate a motor vehicle but cannot remain without an income during the pre-licensing period. These candidates will be hired as School Bus Aide's earning $15.13 per hour and will be provided un-paid training during non-work hours. These candidates will also be eligible for licensing costs to be paid by the company if they commit to two years working with the company. There may also be additional opportunities for paid training programs pending eligibility and program availability with the NJ DOL or other similar workforce development programs.
