Summary The Instructional Designer functions under the direction of the Learning & Development Manager. This position implements the requirements of DOE Handbook DOE-HDBK-l078-94; DOE Standards DOE STD-l06093; ANZI/OSHA training requirements; and, other DOE orders and policies. The Instructional Designer also develops and executes Legacy Management Support (LMS) program learning and development, training, communication of educational and learning materials, and other requirements for approximately 500+ employees, all subcontractors, and 100+ courses for the US Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Legacy Management (LM), LMS program. Duties also include effectively measuring training course effectiveness, and working with subject matter experts to incorporate improvements. Continuously strive for improvement of all training materials using the ADDIE process.

Responsibilities Coordinate with support organizations and subject matter experts to develop and finalize materials utilizing the ADDIE Process. Ensure 508 compliance. Work with instructional design team to develop all training materials including presentation, lesson plans, and handouts. This includes authoring and participating in a comprehensive peer review process. Adhere to Associated Press and internal organizational editorial styles and guidelines. Maintain courses in the Learning Nucleus learning management system. Assist with test control process for the LMS program. Use Articulate 360, PowerPoint and other software to develop courses. Self-manage projects (project management) and duties. Follow records management procedures from creation to disposition phase of learning material. Keep current by completing required compliance-driven organizational training. Complete required documentation. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Education and Experience Bachelor's degree Master's degree preferred A minimum of 5 years experience in instructional design and or adult education. Other applicable experience may be considered. 10 years instructional design experience or adult education is preferred Portfolio with examples of work will be requested. In-person test during final interview will be conducted. Knowledge and Skills Working knowledge of modern adult learning principles and techniques. Experience creating online modules and instructor-based training sessions, instructor- led training guides, supporting materials following an ADDIE (or similar) instructional design process. Ability to organize employee and student curriculums based on job field or functional areas of responsibility. Working knowledge of a wide range of instructional technologies including the ability to assist instructional faculty and program staff in choosing/implementing the best methods to meet the program's identified needs. Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills. Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Products, Articulate 360 Suite, or similar platforms. Knowledge of instructional design software suites and learning management systems. Ability to wo k in a fast paced, rapidly evolving and fluid environment; must be able to manage multiple projects, sometimes on tight deadlines, while liaising with multiple project managers. Proficiency using Articulate 360 Storyline and Rise, Microsoft Office Suite Required Screening Drug Screen Physical Assessment (if applicable) Background Check (Criminal, Civil, Educational, Previous Employment, etc.) Physical and Working Conditions Light work-significant degree of walking or standing, lifting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
