UnitedHealth Group Clinical Pharmacist- Infusion in Westminster, Colorado

Position in this function is responsible for designing and implementing projects across various functional areas and business units related to pharmacotherapy optimization. Serves as a key member of the Optum Colorado pharmacy team with responsibilities for medication affordability and business initiatives. Collaborates with stakeholders across UHC, Optum, Care Delivery Organizations etc. to ensure projects are aligned with core strategies and goals.

This is an on-site position located in Westminster, CO Metro Area. Travel throughout the Westminster area is required and Wheat Ridge, Longmont and Northglenn area may be requested.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Medication Affordability

  • Lead and oversee CDO initiatives to achieve affordability savings within Optum CO infusion sites including biosimilar conversion, optimal dosing strategies, vendor contracting and rebate strategies

  • Partner with Optum Colorado Infusion Center operations staff to execute value-based initiatives

  • Compile, analyze and report out on data related to assigned affordability strategies

  • Partner with national and regional teams to identify emerging trends and align to best practices for continuous affordability improvement

  • Participates in infusion clinic program development and expansion

  • Regularly shares quarterly V&T information and other value-based medication initiatives with Optum clinic providers

  • Chair of Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee/Clinic Formulary Management

  • Maintain formulary and preferred product grid

  • Formulary review and approval process

  • Create Policies & Procedures or Standard Operating Procedures as needed

  • Support the creation and maintenance of mixing guides

  • Review formulary requests per protocol using appropriate payor criteria, billing requirements, prior auth and plan benefit rules

  • Foster and cultivate collaborative partnerships with stakeholders across various departments within the organization, promoting effective teamwork and communication

  • Patient medication and chart review for interactions, medication safety, dosing and clinical appropriateness

  • Develops, implements, and supports pharmacy & medical strategies and programs to achieve key strategic and business goals in partnership with the clinical pharmacy department

  • Partners with executive leaders in the development of organizational objectives and goals to identify/define performance planning/measures, programs, and initiatives related to emerging trends and growth opportunities

  • Collaborates with functionally diverse teams (i.e. MD, RN, PharmD, LCSW, PM, procurement) to achieve desired end-results and develop innovative solutions for complex problems

  • Facilitates functional and segment teams through project implementations with competing agendas and priorities

  • Produces appealing visualizations leveraging multiple internal and external data sources (quantitative and qualitative) and presents conclusions to decisions makers

  • Solves unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business

  • Provides subject matter expertise and operational support to internal business partners

  • Partners with senior leadership to adopt new ideas, products, and/or approaches that may have segment-wide impact

  • Undertake additional projects and initiatives as directed by leadership

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited College/School of Pharmacy

  • Pharmacist Licensure in the state of Colorado

  • 1+ years of specialty infusion pharmacy, prior authorization, or managed care experience

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools and other technical applications (i.e. EMRs) including PowerPoint and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CSP Certification

  • Pharmacy Program Development

  • 1+ years of Post-Graduate/Residency training or equivalent

  • Managed care or Value Based Care experience

  • Experience with Lean Methodologies and Management Systems

  • Demonstrated leadership & communication skills in developing content and presenting to various committees/management to drive consensus recommendations and clinical decisions

  • Proven solid prioritization, attention to detail, effective multi-tasking, verbal/written communication and organizational skills

  • Demonstrated ability to create an effective team environment, build solid relationships

  • Proven solid in solving problems in a mixed-matrix environment and communicating effectively at all levels of an organization

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
