The City of Westbrook is hiring a Customer Service Representative in the Finance Department.
This is a highly responsible position related to the financial operations of the City of Westbrook. The position plays a key role in delivering exceptional customer service by accurately and efficiently processing financial transactions in compliance with established policies and procedures. The work involves a wide variety of clerical and customer service tasks, requiring a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and frequent interaction with the public. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Tax Collector.

Key Responsibilities:
- Processes a variety of transactions including but not limited to handling cash; performing motor vehicle and boat registrations, snowmobile and ATV fees, property taxes and tax liens, miscellaneous transactions, collects fees and fines for parking violation tickets; issuing marriage licenses, certified copies of birth, marriage, and death certificates; registering voters and handling absentee ballots; and other transactions as assigned.
- Reconciles daily transactions in accordance with City policies and procedures.
- Collects amount due on quarterly tax bills, unpaid sewer fees, and liens.
- Responds to inquiries relating to real estate taxes; vehicle registration; boat, ATV, snowmobile, motorcycle registrations; sewer user fees and all other City related information.
- Responsible for reception duties including responding to general inquiries, answering telephones, referring calls as appropriate, and directing City Hall walk-in traffic.
Education and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of finance and cash-handling experience preferred.
- Successful completion of all State required training to be completed within six (6) months of employment.
- State of Maine Notary Public certification required within three (3) months of employment.
- Any equivalent combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of \$18.21 \$26.74/hour, based on experience.
- This position is full-time, non-exempt, and covered by the General Unit collective bargaining agreement.
