Primary responsibility for directing, coordinating, and supervising accounting and administrative service functions for assigned market. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs and supervises accounting staff to ensure adherence to GAAP, Company policies and procedures, and strong internal controls

  • Responsible for the Division’s month-end close process with support of accounting staff

  • Prepares and/or directs the preparation of monthly financial reports, including analyzing budget vs. actual results and reviewing with management

  • Timely and accurate preparation/compilation of annual financial plan and periodic forecasts; coordinates with department leaders to prepare and review

  • Coordinates and responds to all internal and external audit requests

  • Ensures compliance with Company policies related to the accounting of land inventory, pre-acquisition costs, lot costing, and land classification and valuation

  • Coordinates with Land team and has accountability for reviewing, validating, and ensuring proper documentation to support land development budgets

  • Act as business partner to functional department leads, providing financial guidance and key performance metrics to assist in critical decision making

  • Assists in the land acquisition feasibility process and prepares supporting documentation

  • Has full understanding of various computerized systems for accounting, budgeting, reporting, feasibility process, etc.

  • Facilitates workflow between National Shared Services and Division operations

  • Ensures appropriate staffing to meet department needs

  • Directly supervises and manages two or more accounting and/or accounts payable staff

  • Utilizes recruiting and selection tools/processes to build organizational talent

  • Delegates and directs work according to employee’s abilities and skills

  • Evaluates employee’s performance and plans for compensation actions in accordance with that performance

  • Provides developmental opportunities through identification of internal and external training opportunities

  • Creates opportunities for employee growth

  • Provides continuous coaching with regard to functional and leadership standards (technical skills and behaviors)

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting (or equivalent in related field)

  • Certified Public Accounting license (active or inactive) strongly preferred

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Related Functional Experience: Minimum 5 years public and/or corporate accounting experience

  • Good knowledge of GAAP, internal controls and financial reports

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills
