L3Harris Associate Engineer - CAD Design 1 in West Palm Beach, Florida

We are seeking an Associate Engineer, CAD Designer for our West Palm Beach, FL facility.

Our West Palm Beach, FL facility is home to the family of RL10 Upper-Stage Rocket Engines that have propelled missions to every planet in the solar system! This site is also the Hypersonics center of excellence which built the scramjet engine that powered the record-setting X-51A Waverider.

Under general supervision and following established procedures in accordance with contractual requirements and Aerojet Rocketdyne policy and procedures, this position performs engineering design assignments for preparation of engineering design documents and maintaining the engineering product definition.

Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.

Assignments require complete working knowledge of Aerospace CAD modeling and drawing standards and best practices. Typical responsibilities include: Performs design Verification (checking) and calculations to validate design requirements.

Will require Project leadership for the management of designs requiring tracking assignments, percent complete and drawing release schedules for specific design release packages.

Verification of Product Definition (Checking) includes models, drawings and PLM attributes and relationships.

80% - Create, check and maintain design engineering product definition (CAD model, drawings, and associated documents and records) for engineering designs. This includes, but is not limited to, preparation of design layouts and/or preliminary conceptual design layouts as well as outsourced design project leadership.

10% - Performs design calculations to validate any phase of design requirements.

10% - Estimation of resources and schedule required to complete a design activity and training to staff.

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace).

Knowledge of manufacturing and inspection processes and experience with CAD systems (Creo 5 preferred) along with experience using CAD database management tools (Windchill) and knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5) desired. ASME Certification in GD&T is a plus.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products required. Must demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills and must be able to operate effectively in a team environment.
