Life Science Optics business includes 2 focused business lines: Life Science Filters and Life Science Optical Systems. The Team brings extensive experience with over 300 colleagues across 3 sites located in Rochester, NY, Rohnert Park CA, and Carlsbad, CA. We develop leading components and innovative solutions to maximize performance and enable complete optimization of the optical pathway. Primary markets are next generation sequencing, spatial biology, flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, and raman spectroscopy, to name a few. Products: Optical Filters, Filter Wheels, Illumination Light Engines, Optical subsystems, Sensors & Cameras, Imaging Objectives. This role will preferably be based in Rochester, NY, Carlsbad, CA or located on the East Coast or Mid West near a major airport.

Reporting Relationships:

The VP/GM Life Science Optics will report directly to the President of IDEX Health and Science. The leader will directly manage the Vice President Business Line Leader Filters, Vice President Business Line Leader Optical Systems, Chief Technology Officer LSO, Director Program Management, and Senior Manager Pricing. This leadership position also has matrix reports that include Sales, Operations, Finance, and Human Resources.

Responsibilities:

The VP/GM Life Science Optics is responsible for the business strategy development, execution, and P&L performance. The leader will provide strategic, commercial, operational and technical leadership for the business to achieve sustainable, profitable growth (organic and inorganic).

  • Strategy : develop, communicate, and lead the strategic plan and execution. This includes collaborating with IH&S Leadership to develop strategic plans for Life Science Optics and IH&S.

  • Team & Culture : develop talent and culture of performance. Empower collaboration cross-functionally to delight customers– all with our Core Values of Trust, Team and Excellence .

  • Innovation : focus on development of high impact innovation with Product and Technology roadmap development and execution, NPD prioritization and investment in alignment with strategic plan. Ensure timely delivery of strategic and customer-based NPD projects.

  • KPI Leadership : effectively manage key metrics such as Organic Growth, Profitability, Customer Satisfaction (on time delivery, cost of poor quality), Employee Engagement, Working Capital

  • Ability to travel approximately 30-40% predominately across the U.S.

Preferred Experience:

  • Successful track record of General Management experience in a life science manufacturing environment, with specific expertise in Life Science / Biotech (i.e. next generation sequencing, PCR, spatial profiling, DNA synthesis, and common molecular biology methods) preferred.

  • Track record as an agent of change, who has established customer-centric and engineering-minded teams that are leading through collaborative partnerships.

  • Excellent communication, relationship building and leadership skills with ability to evaluate organizations and its talent, as well as align them with customer and organizational goals

  • Experience integrating acquired entities successfully into a larger corporate environment.

  • Extensive global business experience. A strong commercial background, ability to effectively influence across geographies. Outstanding customer facing communications skills.

  • A “hands on” professional who leads by example and inspires individuals at the company, at all levels, to strive for success and excellence.

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $192,900.00 - $289,300.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
