Athene Systems Engineer III in West Des Moines, Iowa

Purpose:

As a part of the End User Technology Desktop Engineering Team, which is responsible for administering and delivering modern deployment and management of the desktop environment at Athene, this will include but not be limited to desktop builds, monthly patching, packaging applications for deployment in SCCM, and tier 3 desktop troubleshooting. The position will participate in medium to large-scale projects affecting the entire company. As a System Engineer you will provide technical leadership and vision for the technologies that you are responsible for.

We have a need for someone that has experience in the automated building of desktops for our corporate environment. This will include:

• Patch deployment/management of Windows desktop and various software deployed to desktops

• Working in Microsoft System Center and utilizing MS Endpoint Manager

• Application packaging for deployment to Windows devices

• Documentation of process and assuring continual process improvement

• Manage and maintain Windows automated build process for corporate end user devices

• Working on and troubleshooting issues with Windows 10/11 desktops

• Azure Virtual Desktop deployment and environment management along with application deployment to AVD

Accountabilities:

  • Design and implement new solutions for desktop automation including desktop build, application packaging and deployment, patching, and virtual desktop management

  • Manage and implement monthly and immediate (zero-day) patches for corporate end user devices running Windows Desktop 10/11 using System Center as well as vendor-based patching mechanisms. This will include documenting process and assessing process for continuous improvement

  • Application packaging and deployment automation to Windows 10/11 desktops including but not limited to MSI and MSIX for Windows devices.

  • Automated deployment/implementation of various vendor software to desktops

  • Documenting processes and assuring continuous review of processes for maintenance and process improvement

  • Azure Virtual Desktop management along with the Senior Engineer to deploy, automate, maintain, and troubleshoot issues

  • Maintain and develop Autopilot build and imaging process of corporate end user devices specifically for Windows 10/11 desktops

  • Work in ticketing system to manage issues and report solutions

  • General troubleshooting of issues with Windows 10/11 desktop deployments and level 3 incidents that may occur from time to time. May require contacting and working with Microsoft or other vendor support.

  • Additional experience in Active Directory Group Policy utilization a plus

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • 3+ years of applicable IT experience

  • Experience in the following: Microsoft System Center, desktop patch deployment/management, MSI/MSIX application packaging, Autopilot automated build technology, Azure Endpoint Manager, troubleshooting laptop/desktop hardware and software related issues, Azure Virtual Desktop experience is a plus.

  • IT certifications are a plus

  • Strong problem solving and analytic skills
