The Life Science Technologies (LST) business unit of Johnson Matthey is a specialty business serving the pharmaceutical, agrochemical and fine chemical markets with high added value solutions. “From design to refine”, we are a one stop shop catalyst solution provider supporting the Life Science Industry, all the way from RnD down to commercial launch and beyond. Our teams are dedicated to the development of sustainable solutions for the synthesis of increasingly complex structures in the field of organic chemistry. Our product portfolio include an extensive line of novel palladium coupling catalysts, a major chiral technologies platform combining biocatalysis and asymmetric hydrogenation, supported heterogeneous precious and base metal catalysts.
We have an exciting vacancy for an Account Manager to join our North American sales team. We are looking for a tenacious individual with a strong commercial mindset who is able to build & maintain relationships with new and existing customers. The incumbent will work closely with the wider LST commercial organisation, and particularly the Innovator sales team.
Your responsibilities:
To deliver the financial targets for the assigned accounts/segments.
To define the New Business Development (NBD) roadmap to expand LST pipeline of projects and support growth on the NA Innovator market segment.
To seek, own and lead BD/NBD opportunities until commercial closure
To manage the relationship with assigned accounts/segments in NA and coordinate with all supporting functions (in particular customer service) to service customer´s needs at the best level.
To implement business unit pricing strategies (with the Head of Sales) and ensure that budgeted sales and margins are achieved
To keep close contact with relevant accounts, monitor and follow up catalysts demand on an on-going basis and create reliable forecast for the projects/customers managed (clear focus on Innovators but not exclusively)
To report activities and provide visibility to the market intelligence team in order to link projects to market demands and support JM integrated business plan by aligning internal capabilities with customer needs
To coordinate with other regions (Europe in particular) to help identify decision makers and ensure consistent commercial management as the project moves across the AI/API Development Value Chain.
To manage the supply contracts, service and secrecy agreements in cooperation with the legal department and the Head of Sales & Business Development.
To lead any customer complaint or trouble shooting requirement efficiently.
To attend trade fair and exhibitions as requested
To carry out any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
Requirements for the role:
Degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry
Project Management skills
Ability to detect customer needs & position commercial offer in complex technical environments
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Proficient IT skills (Microsoft Office)
Account Management experience & experience with large global organizations (preferred)
Proven negotiation skills for commercial and legal affairs (preferred)
Knowledge of LST product range and applications (preferred)
Prior experience on pharmaceuticals or agrochemicals market (preferred)
