Director of Financial Reporting

Our client is looking for a Director of Financial Reporting for a contract role. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial statements and reports, as well as compliance with SEC regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in management accounting, SEC reporting, FP& A, and consolidations within an SAP environment. Additionally, the candidate should have a strong background in corporate accounting, including equity compensation, leasing, fixed assets, and debt accounting.

Responsibilities of Director of Financial Reporting

  • Oversee the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Coordinate with various departments to ensure all financial information is captured correctly.

  • Provide leadership in management accounting practices, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis to support strategic decision-making.

  • Lead the preparation and filing of SEC reports, including 10-K, 10-Q, and other required disclosures. Ensure compliance with SEC regulations and work closely with legal and compliance teams.

  • Manage the preparation and presentation of internal financial reports for executive leadership, providing insights into financial performance and business trends.

  • Collaborate with the FP& A team to provide analysis and insights that support the company's financial planning and decision-making processes.

  • Oversee the financial consolidations process for multiple entities within the SAP environment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

  • Manage corporate accounting functions, including equity compensation, leasing, fixed assets, and debt accounting. Ensure adherence to GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.

  • Coordinate and manage external reporting activities, including the preparation of financial statements, disclosures, and other required documentation for external stakeholders.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, ensuring all required documentation is prepared and available, and addressing any audit findings or recommendations.

  • Provide strong leadership to the finance team, including mentoring and developing team members. Collaborate with senior leadership to drive financial strategy and business growth.

    Requirements

Skills/Qualifications of Director of Financial Reporting

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA certification required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in financial reporting, accounting, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Previous experience as an Interim CFO, CAO, Controller, VP of Finance, or Accounting Manager is highly desirable.

  • Extensive experience with SAP or similar ERP systems. Advanced knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations, and financial reporting requirements. Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic recommendations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to executive leadership and external stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to lead and develop a high-performing finance team.

  • Experience managing cross-functional projects and initiatives.

  • Meticulous attention to detail, with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
