GE Aerospace Lead Mechanical Design Engineer – High Pressure Turbine Airfoils in West Chester, Ohio

Job Description Summary

As a member of the New Product Introduction team for the High Pressure Turbine Mechanical Design team, you will help deliver solutions for GE LEAP engines actively flying around the globe. In this role you will be designing turbine airfoils hardware for the future LEAP engines. From paper to engine test to certification, you will be responsible for designing, coordinating and executing new product introduction or product improvements. You will work closely with a diverse team of engineering, systems, supply chain and engine test teams.

The role has some autonomy and is focused on problem solving then execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but you will be surrounded with a network of experts in the discipline to help when needed.

Job Description

As the Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:

  • Design new products for the future LEAP engines using 3D modeling software (NX, UG, Ansys and other programs)

  • With guidance, execute and conduct design, analysis, and evaluation per engineering standards and procedures to meet the product requirements

  • Work collaboratively with engineers from heat transfer, adjacent hardware, engine performance and system integration

  • Collaborate with new make manufacturing shops & repair shops on hardware

  • Recommend approaches to meet the technical and program requirements

  • Formulate, defend, and implement plans that achieve schedules

  • Develop action plans and respond to problems

  • Present key technical presentation to product stakeholders

  • Complete documentation of technical data for the assigned projects

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, or closely related field of Engineering

  • Minimum of 3 years of aerospace or mechanical engineering experience in design

Desired Characteristics

  • Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering related to product design

  • Prior experience in product design, mechanical design, or related field

  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems.

  • Experience with mechanical design analytical software and computer code.

  • Effective in contributing in a structured, cross functional teamwork environment.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; established project management skills.

  • Fundamental understanding of turbine system design.
