Big River Resources Financial Controller in West Burlington, Iowa

Big River Resources is looking to add a Financial Controller to the team at our West Burlington Corporate Administration office. The Financial Controller will support accurate financial recording and reporting procedures of financial and business transactions. The Financial Controller will support the daily activity, prepare financial reports which summarize the company's business activities in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations. This position will also be involved in the direct detail preparation of budgets and prepare necessary supporting documentation. This position will back up and support all activity in absence of all financial team members.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years experience or equivalent; preferably with an ethanol manufacturer

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in accounting or equivalent experience

  • Ability to maximize and develop team member skills

  • Strong ability to lead a team in a positive and collaborative manner

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

  • Perform proficiently in Microsoft Office

  • Proficiency in financial software systems and tools

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills

  • Creative thinker who possesses a high degree of integrity

    Reporting to this position Financial Professional Accountant, Financial Staff Accountant, Financial Specialist Accountant, Administrative Assistants

    Position Responsibilities

  • Monthly preparation of financial statements for approval

  • Supervise and process monthly closings

  • Maintenance of the general ledger accounts within Great Plains

  • Maintain and monitor the fixed asset system

  • Maintain a uniform chart of accounts

  • Review and approve monthly posting to the general ledger

  • Assist CFO to plan, forecast, and control cash flow to minimize use of borrowed funds

  • Ensure that all relevant financial information is routinely monitored for accuracy, including bank balances, receipts, disbursements, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and billings

  • Establish and maintain accurate files for all financial documents

  • Assist with maintaining policies and procedures

  • Assist with maintaining relevant policies and procedures

  • Assist in the annual audit and budget process

  • Assist with special projects

  • Cross train and support business process in absence of team members

  • Support company Officers, Senior Managers, Controllers and Accounting staff

  • All other duties as assigned.
