About us

Cave Vet Specialists is a large referral centre just 5 minutes from the M5 in rural Somerset. It offers some of the most advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities across the South West of England. Including a new state of the art MRI suite, a CT scanner, multiple large theatres, an oncology suite, endoscopy and ultrasound, radiography, in-house laboratory and specially designed hospitalisation facilities. The hospital is an ISFM silver feline clinic.

A multi-disciplinary team of specialist clinicians and highly-skilled veterinary nurses provide the highest levels of care and treatment for all animals referred to us. We provide a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week service to our clients and patients enabling our patients to receive the highest standards of clinical care in a compassionate environment.

We cover a multitude of disciplines, including internal medicine, neurology, soft tissue, orthopedics, oncology, dermatology and cardiology.

Cave Vet Specialists is part of the Linnaeus group of veterinary practices which is one of the most highly-respected veterinary groups in the UK and Ireland offering specialist referral services as well as primary care.

Your role and responsibilities

A rotational registered veterinary nurse (RVN) position has become available at Cave Veterinary Specialists, Wellington, Somerset. This is a full-time position working 37.5 hrs per week.

Our rotational RVN team have a varied role with the opportunity to be involved in the care and support of patients from all disciplines including internal medicine, oncology, neurology, soft tissue, and orthopaedic surgery. In 2023 we also welcomed the new and exciting discipline of referral dentistry and oral surgery.

The successful individual will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skillset in all aspects of referral veterinary nursing with support from experienced rotational and discipline-specific nurses.

Daily duties include but are not limited to:

  • Providing a high standard of contextualised care to both inpatients and day patients by developing and implementing care plans in conjunction with our specialist clinicians.

  • Patient care and case handovers; liaising with clinician, nurse and PCA team’s.

  • Supporting patients under sedation and general anaesthesia during diagnostic and surgical procedures.

  • Supporting patients during advanced imaging such as ultrasound, CT and MRI.
