Operations Supervisor

We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Operations Supervisor in our West Allis Operations Center.

Job Summary

The Operations Supervisor manages external contracted resources and business applications/processes based on the need of the business unit. This includes (but not limited to) supervisory tasks in Gas Operations or Electric Operations related to construction, design, planning, and locating for We Energies electric/gas transmission and distribution systems. Operations Supervisors ensure that all customers’ needs are met in a safe, efficient and timely manner through the effective management/utilization of personnel, equipment, and materials. Their first concern is to ensure the safety of employees, customers, and contractors during all work applications. This Operations Supervisor role is responsible for overseeing the locating and damage prevention activities related to the company’s electric and gas underground distribution infrastructure.

This position is part of a job family(Operations Supervisor/Sr Operations Supervisor), placement will be determined based off experience level.

Job Responsibilities

• Training and administration of locating and damage prevention contracts.

• Ensure the terms of the locating/damage prevention contract are adhered to by all contractors.

• Provide support in resolving locating issues with external customers, internal employees and contractors doing work for the company.

• Follow up with third party excavators with repeated damages to improve damage prevention practices and outreach activities with excavators on safe digging practices.

• Month and quarterly reporting on locating volume and financial forecast.

• Representing We Energies in contacts with the customer, the general public, municipalities, cities, townships, contractors, and their employees; they use negotiation skills to resolve conflicts, engagement skills to build networks to enhance good working relationships.

• Availability for emergency call-outs.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma, HSED, GED

• Valid driver's license

• Operations Supervisor requires five to ten years experience in a distribution/construction operations trade and/or five to ten years experience in supervision of direct reports

• Good working knowledge of union contracts and employee relationship management

• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with employees, contractors, and community groups

• Strong communication and organizational skills

• Sr. Operations Supervisor typically requires a minimum of 5 years in a leadership position or a minimum of three years supervisory experience in an operations environment, preferably in more than one functional and/or geographic area and with demonstrated success in leading teams, exhibiting strong customer focus and setting strategic direction.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with utility construction and or facility locating

• Contract management experience
