About Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation:

The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing into our Future Grids portfolio and applications to create the power distribution grid of the future. Our comprehensive portfolio meets the growing technical requirements of today’s and tomorrow’s power grid!

We are looking for an Electrical Engineering Key Expert . This position will be based in Wendell, NC but can be fully remote.

The Electrification & Automation (EA) Business Unit located near Raleigh, NC is growing steadily. We are is seeking a highly qualified and driven Engineer for the Engineering Hub Governance team.

This role will play a significant role in the continued growth of EA Business Unit by working to train and grow various engineering teams external or remote to the core US organization that are still working within the EA ANSI engineering hub. This role will particularly focus on the Electrical Engineering aspect of these teams, preparing and overseeing training, preparation, and quality of electrical engineering relating to production activities.

This is a remote position that will require occasional Domestic and International travel to the office for training and meetings, as well as requiring some travel to support and establish new external or remote engineering teams.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Train and grow engineering teams in all the ANSI hubs established by the core US engineering team for all the relevant product lines.

  • Responsible for implementing “SELF” processes in ANSI regions (e.g. Canada, Mexico, LATAM) and within other EA US segments (UTL) for all relevant product lines.

  • Responsible for working with the regional organization to meet and exceed Engineering quality and other KPIs for assigned products.

  • Responsible for working with regional management to ensure appropriate performance of remote teams.

  • Provide input to the Process & Data Management (PDM) Team to enable the PDM team to deliver effective process training materials.

  • Provide input to the Product Standardization (PS) Team to enable the PS team to design, maintain, and enhance design guidelines and standard part libraries for both electrical components and mechanical assemblies.

  • Provide input to the Digital Knowledgebase (DKB) Team to allow for enhanced rules, interlockings, and standards within product configurators.

  • Create and maintain skills matrix for the hub team of engineers to ensure employee development and growth.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

  • 10+ years of relevant front-end customer interface and production engineering experience

  • Ability to analyze customer’s technical specifications & single line diagrams, apply appropriate product offerings to meet the customers’ expectations in cost-effective and timely manner, offer alternative solutions to optimize profitability while meeting customer needs.

  • Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL and NEMA standards for LV& MV Switchgear & Controller.

  • Experience with electrical design for Low voltage MCC & medium voltage switchgear, preference given to experience with Siemens switchgear

  • Basic financial knowledge to understand and participate in ongoing business planning and support the product as well as project lifecycle management processes.

  • Excellent collaboration, leadership, and decision-making skills in a team environment, and demonstrated ability to perform and prioritize multiple, simultaneous tasks while maintaining excellent customer service.

  • Excellent communications skills to effectively and accurately communicate with internal and external customers.

  • Ability to identify market trends and using this information, work closely with Marketing and Technology to create and justify projects to close the identified gaps.

  • Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office tools and willingness to learn product configuration/pricing applications.

  • Travel Required – 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with leading a team or working in a training or mentorship capacity

  • 10+ years of experience with Project Engineering particular focus on power distribution applications.

  • Experience in the design and application of electrical distribution products with a focus on AIS / GIS (LV & MV) medium voltage metal clad, metal enclosed switchgear products and/or Transformers.

  • Knowledge and experience evaluating Single line drawings, schematics, relay protection & control schemes, communication network diagrams and related engineering documents.

  • 2-5 years engineering experience in an EPC, engineering, manufacturing, utility, industrial corporate environment or similar. Advanced degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience.

  • The pay range for this position is $118,790 - $203,640 and the annual incentive target is 15% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
