Chelan County PUD Fleet Manager in Wenatchee, Washington

*This position will be filled at the Safety and Health Coordinator I, II or Senior level, contingent upon the selected applicant's experience. *

Overview: The Safety & Health Coordinator 

role's primary purpose is to administer and assist in regulatory compliance while promoting a culture of safe, healthy behaviors and work practices at the District through proactive engagement with internal stakeholders, while providing continuous learning and safety improvement opportunities in a team environment.

Safety & Health Coordinator Responsibilities

  • Audits and Improvements: Assist in field presence with employees and supervisors to support and advance Human Performance Improvement and Operational Excellence initiatives and conduct on-the-job health and safety inspections and site audits to evaluate safe work practices and techniques. Collect, analyze, and communicate safety and incident trends, performance, and ideas for improvement. Assist in timely incident analysis investigations in response to safety concerns, close calls, property damage and industrial injuries and illnesses. Research, develop and recommend solutions and track resolution. Assist in the facilitation of the Fitness for Duty program. Assist in evaluating confined space locations, sound level surveys, fall protection, arc flash, LOTO and usage in proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Provide continuous learning opportunities: Assist in the advancement of Human Performance Improvement, Operational Excellence, Safety Training, Incident Analysis and Safety Audit programs to ensure their success and relevance. Engage with employees to deliver programs and training that create awareness, motivation and accountability for safe work behaviors and provides strategies and tools to employees to develop and maintain a learning culture that produces a safe working environment. Assist and coach employees on proactive formal communication around safety and performance. Assist with the coordination and scheduling safety-training including course curriculum and materials. Oversee the tracking and reporting of employee safety training records.

  • Assist senior coordinators with compliance administration. Administer the District's safety policies, standards, guidelines and procedures, supporting compliance with all rules and regulations of the various governmental agencies. Research and recommend interpretation of federal, state, and local safety regulations including OSHA/DOSH requirements. Regularly lead Safety Committee and Unit Safety meetings and attend Centralized Safety, Staff, and Department meetings. Assist in the development of abatement strategies for hazardous material abatement projects and coordinate with District's Environmental Coordinator to ensure hazardous disposal requirements are met. Review and develop safety and health documents such as Job Safety Analysis, Hot Work Permits, Confined Space Permits, etc.

  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance: Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC). Employees with access to confidential employee records and information are required to restrict access from any unauthorized person, except on a need to know basis.

  • As an essential function, drive a motorized vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the District.
