CONTRACT RATE

$38.86 per hour.

JOB DURATION

This seasonal position is anticipated to last from the beginning of March through early May.  Employees live onsite at the job location in a company provided travel trailer during scheduled work days.

Fish & Wildlife Specialist - Seasonal -- Chewuch

Join our team at Chelan County Public Utility District. As one of the largest hydroelectric generating utilities in the Northwest, our mission at Chelan PUD is to improve the quality of life for the thousands of people who call our pristine desert and mountain community home.

Overview Works independently under general direction from the Fish & Wildlife Superintendent and Fish and Wildlife General Foreman. Preparing, maintaining, and operating the Chewuch Acclimation Pond for Spring Chinook. Operates tools and equipment used in fish husbandry practices. Collects, calculates and records moderately complex data results related to fishery activities, such as fish lengths and feed proportions. Required to live on site during the scheduled workweek and be available 24 hours a day for monitoring fish. Incumbents will stay onsite in District provided travel trailer during the workweek.

Responsibilities

  • Care for fish in acclimation pond daily. Feeding, ensuring water flow, predator protection, and general pond maintenance. Collect and record moderately complex technical data for various fish health goals.
  • Operate, monitor and perform daily maintenance, including but not limited to: Water intake systems, pond height regulation systems, fish husbandry equipment.
  • Assemble, install, maintain or remove equipment needed to carry out biological tasks.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance: Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC).

Overtime exemption Non-Exempt

Qualifications Equivalent experience (year for year) may substitute for required education.

  • No higher-level education required
  • College-level course work or degree in Fish & Wildlife or Natural Resources directly related field is preferred.
